If you are caught stepping on a bald eagle's egg in California?
You will be fined hundreds of dollars.
You know why?
Because you made a mess?
No
Because Bald Eagles are "endangered", and when you step on a bald eagle egg, you just killed an EAGLE.
If you KILL a human embryo in California, they'll PAY YOU hundreds of dollars.
Get it?

She had an abortation about a year ago. (not mine. We weren't dating at the time)
When I found out about this, I was beyond shocked...a baby is a baby, whether out of the womb or not. It's still a child.
She and I got together shortly after that. The bastard that fathered that unborn child wouldn't have done a thing for her. Had she had the child, I would have done anything and everything for that kid.
Every life is important. Every life.

I just think that a womans body is her body. Sure there is a fetus/embryo in her, and there is a father who helped create that fetus/embryo, but it's all in the woman's body. Pregnancy is something SHE has to endure for 9 months, something that will change her life, will change her physically, something that is a big commitment and responsibility. I think the final decision should come down to her.
SickBoy said:I think between a couple, if the father wants to have it and the mother doesn't, i think the mother should have the right to an abortion. It's a touchy subject and in a situation like that it would be hard to say what's right or wrong, but I think it should be the woman's right to choose.
twylight said:You've already backpedeled on that men should have no opinion on the matter at all.
And you keep saying that the woman should have the right to choose. Yes, we get that. But it doesn't matter where the embryo/fetus/child is it's both of the consenting adults property.
Saying that a man should have no say and even then it's the womans final choice is like saying that the fate of a movie made by two people is only decided by the person who's house they made it at.

twylight said:Once she passes the line and becomes pregnant the choice isn't hers anymore. She should have thought about it before she became pregnant, or even before there was a chance of her being pregnant.
Once you have an embryo/fetus/child in you a woman is carrying a part of someone else. Someones else's DNA is in her and has 'made' something, whatever 'it' is.
celldog said:But again why? The baby has a body too, right?? Since he or she cannot speak for itself and say "Hey, let me live!" it doesn't have rights to life?
He didn't ask to come here. Right?
SickBoy said:I think this is a pretty grey area.
I think in a lot of situations it's best NOT to bring a child into the world. I think a lot of people, maybe they make stupid decisions and get pregnant, or maybe birth control fails, or whatever, but a lot of people really should not have the kid. It would be bad for them and bad for the child.
It seems like you belive the child should be born no matter what and the mother should not have a say. I believe that's wrong.

Abaddon said:I can't for the life of me find a definition for baby that specifically describes a collection of cells developing into a human child.
twylight said:I am taking this thread as it's consenting adults.
And whether men should have a say in the matter of abortion.
Aborting a baby because of rape is a different matter.

EMBRYONIC DEVELOPMENT
Cleavage
Mitosis and cytokinesis of the zygote, an unusually large cell, produces an increasing number of smaller cells, each with an exact copy of the genome present in the zygote. However, the genes of the zygote are not expressed at first. The activities of cleavage are controlled by the mother's genome; that is, by mRNAs and proteins she deposited in the unfertilized egg. Cleavage ends with the formation of a blastula.
Patterning
During this phase, the cells produced by cleavage organize themselves in layers and masses, a process called gastrulation. The pattern of the future animal appears:
front and rear (the anterior-posterior axis)
back side and belly side (its dorsal-ventral axis)
left and right sides.
There is little visible differentiation of the cells in the various layers, but probes for cell-specific proteins reveal that different groups of cells have already started on specific paths of future development.
Gastrulation forms three major "germ layers": ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. By gastrulation, the genes of the zygote genome are being expressed.
View these stages as they occur in amphibians such as Xenopus laevis, the South African clawed frog.
Differentiation
In time, the cells of the embryo differentiate to form the specialized structures and functions that they will have in the adult. They form neurons, blood cells, skin cells, muscle cells, etc., etc. These are organized into tissues, the tissues into organs, the organs into systems.
Growth
After all the systems are formed, most humans and animals go through a period of growth. Growth occurs by the formation of new cells and more extracellular matrix

The life of the child and the life of the father have nothing to do with her.
You shouldn't have sex with anyone (of the opposite sex) unless you're prepared to deal with the possibility of life-creation.
Sorry, it's lame, but it's the "Facts of Life".
They say "it takes 2 to "tango".....That goes both ways. "BOTH" implying TWO parties.
Once a dude ejaculates inside a woman, they're now bound by that (albiet ridiculous) union.
It's now BOTH of them that are involved.
Although Nature is unfair to the females, nonetheless, the females should've thought of that before they spread their legs and invited the males to heighten their risks.
It's really just common sense, though few people on Earth today care to dabble in "Common Sense".![]()
