Men and Abortion

Yes,but it doesn't say "baby".I guess they didn't think it was an accurate enough description.:o

why?

The life of the child and the life of the father have nothing to do with her.
You shouldn't have sex with anyone (of the opposite sex) unless you're prepared to deal with the possibility of life-creation.

Sorry, it's lame, but it's the "Facts of Life".
They say "it takes 2 to "tango".....That goes both ways. "BOTH" implying TWO parties.

Once a dude ejaculates inside a woman, they're now bound by that (albiet ridiculous) union.

It's now BOTH of them that are involved.
Although Nature is unfair to the females, nonetheless, the females should've thought of that before they spread their legs and invited the males to heighten their risks.

It's really just common sense, though few people on Earth today care to dabble in "Common Sense". :o

I'm going to sound like a suck up or whatever, but this whole argument can really just end with this post:up:

Well I don't know... it's hard to say what the best decision is. It depepnds on how you look at the fetus, how developed you believe it is (if you believe it has a soul or if it can feel, etc.).

And you're right, the baby cant say "hey, let me live," but it also doesn't know what kind of world it will be born into. The baby can't choose, so the mother, or the mother and the father if the father is there, have to talk about it and decide for themselves. But if the mother and father disagree, i think it should come down to the mother.

I think Wilheim answered this nicely.

So are you saying that common sense tells us that people should refrain from sexual intercourse until they are both ready and willing to raise a child?

That's just not going to happen. I think both parties should protect themselves as good as possible, and if they have any doubts that the protection worked the girl should seriosuly consider taking the morning after pill, but people will have sex whether or not they are ready to have a child, and some people, no matter how careful they are, will end up getting pregnant.

So where do you think the decision should lie? It sounds like you think that abortion should not be an option even if thats what both parties want.

Dude..I said it first. :(

I want royalties...

I'm sorry, I really didn't read the whole thread. Props to you for saying it first then:up:

Still the matter of royalties...:o

WILLY?!?! :p ;)

And by the way Wil, you said it better anyway. ;)

I think some of you have changed my opinion on the whole voting thing. Men should have a say in the abortion issue. It really does involve them.

But i still feel that in the event of a disagreement between the mother and the father, the mother should be the one to make the decision.

what do you guys think about the mother and father disagreeing? not that it happens a whole lot, but what do you think?

well i guess i dont know, maybe it happens more often than i think.

Now we're just being plain silly. You know what the end result is. You read about the organ development, muscle cells etc........what do think this is ...a tree?? Plus this is a science book. Words like "baby" are ususally not used. That does not mean that it is not a baby.

And you still haven't answered why "baby" is less accurate than "fetus".

It's the same thing. One is the latin translation. That's all.

Automobile or a more technical term than car. But they are the same.

Then the father has no say.

Hah, I haven't seen someone do that since I did it myself in one of the political threads. Welcome to the club SickBoy:up:

And I think you don't have any answers to mine.

You said "baby" isn't any less accurate, yet you don't see it used in a biology book, and I found no definitions for "baby" that matched the description of the fetus. I don't see how you're not putting the pieces together.

Heh. Well I started the thread with the intent to hear other people's opinions and get some new insight into the matter. I didn't come here to defend my stance to the death or anything. Discussion is about opening people up to different ideas.

And you seemed to willfully ignore the context from which the term was pulled. A Scientific text book will use scientific terminology not warm and fuzzy terms like "baby" or "kid" or "Daddy". It will say fetus , child or Father. Those are more technical. But they mean the same thing. You just seem to be bent on de-humanizing the baby by using the more cold "fetus" term. Why???

Does that make sense to you now???

Well what do you think? I want to get other people's opinions on this. If they disagree, what do you think should happen? Obviously they should talk to each other and spend time thinking about it and discussing it in detail, but what if they still cant come to an agreement?

:)

I think abortin is killing a living creature (i think killing a spider is too, i wont even kill spiders), but i think that ending the fetus/baby/wahtever's life as early as possible can be the right decision in certain situations. Sometimes even the best decision isn't a pretty one.
