Apparently Pym has to be a handsome cleft chin 30 something with blond hair and blue eyes for these guys to buy into him.

would i have liked a young pym with janet and creating ultron yes, of course
but that's evidently not happening and i can't complain with what we're getting, we're lucky to be getting an Ant-Man movie in the first place

Maybe you should cherry pic an image of Douglas in the middle of a chemo session to REALLY get your point across.

Some of you really need to get a grip. Unbelievable.

Seriously, people throwing tantrums. It's the SHH daycare center, all I hear are the cries and screams.

Hate to say this but:

NEWSFLASH!

Pym wasn't EVER portrayed as a fragile old many in any of the stories he's famous for. None of that alternate future or what if? crap applies here.

You're really ridiculous and it's laughable.

I don't know why some people are upset about this. We've known since 2006 that Hank Pym would be older.

You know how I can tell most of you who are vehemently upset about this have never even read an Ant-Man comic before? SAM IS HAPPY ABOUT THIS. And he was highly pissed just a few months ago because he thought Marvel would be minimizing Pym. But he's not upset that he's old and weary. Why is that? Because casting someone as big as Douglas means Marvel has plans for the character and is taking him seriously. And why does him not being old and weary take away from that for him? Because Pym is basically an old weary guy in a 40 year old's body in the comics. Making him 70 years old does absolutely nothing to the character's essence and personality and characteristics other than making him the age he acts anyway.

Yeah we have, and a lot of us have been trying to tell people this. But people don't actually care about this stuff until it's announced. Half the guys whining in this thread I've never even seen post in this section before this. So it's very easy to tell what they're really all about.

Maybe Prof Weems, Aka The Time Master, used his age acceleration ray on Pym, sped up his particles, and stole years of his life as well as his tech. Erasing his destiny in the timeline..

I don't get the hate. Ant-Man was always a c-list hero. It doesn't matter which one we got, none have ever been amazingly popular.

Keep in mind that focusing on Lang is a better choice as he's a less developed character than Pym and not nearly as unlikable as O'Grady. Using the film to define Scott Lang and then relaunching his comic works for me as he's never been all that important to the Marvel Universe.

I mean, when looking at the other Avengers who have yet to appear on scree, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel are very defined characters while Edgar Wright gets the opportunity to make somebody who's more or less a blank slate into a VERY cool member of The Avengers. I personally can't wait.

So people want EMH Pym do they. You mean the absent-minded scientist who's also a pacifist and only resorts to force when there's NO OTHER option, or when Janet's in danger. You mean the guy who went crazy and became Yellowjacket in season 2, that guy. Here's the thing, you can still do that character with Douglas. Douglas can do all of these things that I mentioned, play all of those different traits.

Yes. You list those traits like they are a problem and aren't interesting.

NEWSFLASH! The MCU is by it's very existence an alternate universe so it most certainly applies.

This should be stamped on peoples foreheads.

Good thing him being 70 stops none of it and in fact encourages them. Hank being a crazy ass cynical and pessimistic old scientist makes a lot of sense actually and is vey inspired.

It's so unreal. It wouldn't be proper news without a few people going off their meds.

I think it's great. I don't know if there's any better schadenfreude than that inspired by the bitter tears and impotent rage of internet fanboys.

Atleast Pym is in the film, he isn't overlooked. That's a good thing!

And Douglas is a really good actor.

What to make of it? We'll have to wait and see. :)
