Well Sam continues to surprise me...or is this sarcasm??
I don't think it is

everyone ages.

I'd love it if Nick Fury still looks exactly the same in the 70's, just with an epic fro.
Redford!
I love Hank Pym.
....And this is the most awesome goddamn news to come out of Marvel Studios yet.
The Rudd news was great.
The Paxton news was great.
Mike Douglas as 70-year old Obi-Wan Pym is ****ing fantastic.
Can't wait to see this movie now.
Perhaps Janet won't be his love interest in this movie. She is a good enough character to be interesting without having to be arm candy. Heck, she doesn't even need to be Pym's love interest for him to want to give her powers. Maybe she's his protégé/confidant for example, or maybe she's related to him in some way. There are other ways to do this without the two having to be a couple.

This is exactly where I'm at. I try to get annoyed, but then think Gordon Gecko's playing Hank Pym, and that seems like it could be amazing.
My biggest concern is what happens with Jan. But I do think this shows some crazy respect for Pym to get a name like Michael Douglas to play him. Huge ones, Marvel. Huge. Ones.
And while Douglas has only done one sequel in his career spanning more than 40 years - Gordon Gekko in 2010's "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" - the actor teased about his involvement in future "Ant-Man" sequels.
"(Marvel) reciprocated well, there are sequels. Who knows?" the actor said.
This is how I feel, too. On the one hand, I am extremely disappointed that Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne have been erased from The Avengers in the MCU. Jan is one of my three favorite superheroines so I'm truly upset that it looks as if she won't exist in the film universe. I've also been a fan of Hank's since childhood and none of the crap that writers have piled on him over the years has tarnished that one bit. Not getting to see them in their Silver Age glory on the silver screen is a real blow.
On the other hand, it's Michael Douglas so I can't help being excited about his casting. He was utterly fantastic in Behind The Candelabra, as he has been in everything else. Douglas also sounds excited about the role and working with Marvel, which is always good to hear. For now I'm in wait-and-see mode about this film. It will need to be very, very good to overcome my misgivings.
Michael Douglas wants to surprise audiences with Marvel's 'Ant-Man'
"I've been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long," Douglas told Reuters on Monday. "The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan (the actor's 13-year-old son) will love it. He'll have a picture he can see."
"(Marvel) reciprocated well, there are sequels. Who knows?" the actor said.
