Well since the movie is being made it's obviously not to late. I for one am really excited to see this movie. I don't see how people can complain about a movie that literally has only 3 people cast so far and hardly and plot details released.

Unlikely. The basic "To Steal An Ant-Man" story is that Lang steals the suit without having any idea who it belongs to, or what it even does. The fact that he learns to use it, and use it well, impresses Pym, who begins to mentor him.

The story only works if there's no existing connection between Pym and Lang.

actually, Scott knew who Hank was. I have the issue right in front of me. he finds the ant-man costume and remembers the name on the gate/that Hank Pym used to be Ant-Man. and he credits his quick adaptation to the suit to reading about it in Scientific American magazine (while in prison). even in the cartoon adaptation, he knows that Pym was Ant-Man. otherwise, he probably wouldn't have paid any attention to the costume.

Did you see the ones where whiplash and Crimson Dynamo were the same person, Justin Hammer was a young man, Aldrich Killian was a young man who didn't kill himself, Bucky Barnes fell out of a train and wasn't blown up, The Red Skull got a super soldier serum dose, Heimdall was black, and Malekith, Tony Stark and many others did not act anything like their comic book counterparts? (Granted, movie Tony Starl is at least way more entertaining than comic book Tony Stark)

All of this Hyperbole for a guy who is the same character at a different point in his career who's age should not even factor into how well he does his job (or did).

Kevin Feige had said that Ant Man was off limits until after Wright did his movie, but nothing about Pym...

Ant-Man comes out after A2, so that is unlikely. Whedon already said Pym would not be involved with Ultron in the film anyway.

Exactly and it would be pretty boring if it was an exact copy. All the Marvel films have taken their liberties.

And honestly, this films sounds really interesting, especially since it introduces the concept of legacy heroes.

Or Bucky was a grown man Cap's age instead of a gawky teenage sidekick? Or Rick Jones wasn't in the Avengers? Or Tony Stark became Iron Man in Afghanistan instead of Vietnam? Or Hulk was created from an offshoot of the super-soldier serum instead of gamma radiation? Or Sif wasn't Thor's queen? Or Cap hooked up with Black Widow instead of Sharon Carter?

It's a simple matter of adapting to a new century and a moviegoing audience instead of a monolithic geekboy culture from 50+ years of comic fandom. Hell, I hate to see major deviations from canon, too, but the cases where thinking outside the box reaches new audiences and creates something more relevant to the 21st century instead of what the world looked like 50 years ago is a plus in my book.

But this movie was'nt made for the mcu and it's clearly showing. it's clearly a standalone film being shoe horned in causing rifts. they could've had hank be part of the ultron arc if it was'nt for this.

I can see the heimdal thing annoy people, but he's not that much of a fleshed out character so i got over it.

fair enough about pepper, but none of Tony's love interests have been a major significances.
There is an a.i version of Jarvis in the comics also.
why would rick be in the avengers? he is not an original member. and he is not in the mcu which was another mistake.

yes they have to update the characters with the times or else the mcu would be mostly set in an old folks home.

super soldier serum was an extension for hulks origin but it still involves gamma.

and it's early days for Thor, he still has to go through jane foster. he is'nt even king yet why would he have a queen? ( if its something to do with thor 2 i havent seen it so no spoilers, i'll accept i'm wrong if it is)

Iron Man II was awesome and certainly made a decent amount of money so, for me, it hit it's mark. Any criticism people had with it was definitely NOT because of changes made to characters. So don't thank me when the structure of your point is still wafer thin.

From what I can tell your point is less about staying faithful (because you would care about these throwaway characters as well) and more about just keeping the main characters the way that you want them. I say if they get the core of the character correct then success. Everything else about them is vestigial dressing.

As for Tony Stark, dude is boring as crap in the comics. It's like him and Hawkeye exchanged personalities for the movies or something. Unless Tony Stark in the comics is drunk he is all serious business and can never maintain my attention enough to continuously buy his books. That dude is just not engaging. He got even worse after Civil War.

uh no i care about the characters that people payed money to watch or read for longer then you or i have been around. i'm not saying stay 100 percent to the comics i understand things need to be tweeked, and i like the tweeking by all means it makes things more interesting. but they are not tweaking hank-ant man they are using the same name and proffession and thats as far as it goes.
