MICHAEL KEATON RETURNS (or at least in discussion) AS BATMAN

My understanding is Keaton's Batman will be the new DCEU Batman moving forward with a "Nick Fury" type mentor role over multiple future films. Reeves and Pattinson's Batman will be a TOTALLY separate Trilogy and won't be connected at all, kind of like Joker.
Yea this legit seems to be the route they're taking. THR came out with a new article teasing the idea of Keaton being in future JL movies alongside Gal and Momoa

Question is why another older Batman? You'd think they'd want someone younger

I've been thinking the same. Much as I'd love to see Keaton back, I'm wondering did they have a story that needed him, or have they just thought 'Hey, y'know what'd get the punters in... Keaton!!', and then put together something to justify him being there?

Either way, of course, I'll be there! :yay:

Jett from Batman on Film says the deal with Keaton is done. He says Keaton’s salary demands meant that his part had to be expanded in the script to the point that he’s basically the co-lead of the film. He says Flashpoint will be the main inspiration but it won’t be a straight adaptation. He’s known about the Keaton negotiations for weeks but kept it quiet out of respect for El Mayimbe. Keaton’s next movie will be Batman Beyond with a young female protege who will become Batgirl. Keaton will also serve as the DCEU’s version of Bruce Wayne/Batman moving forward in multiple movies.

I like that. A clever way of introducing Batgirl, tying into both Batman Beyond and their revised Flashpoint. But are we getting this before the Flash movie? I thought the Flash movie was to be the one that first reintroduces Keaton's Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Edit: Okay, on rereading I take it that means his next movie after Flash.

Yes, he said The Flash will lead into Batman Beyond/Batgirl.

Are the two Tim Burton films now DCEU cannon?
They'd have to be, wouldn't they? Which would interesting, seeing as how they're also considered canon to the Arrowverse after their Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Didn't see this in the thread....thought it was cool....

It is possible he could just be playing an entirely new Batman either from scratch or based on an even older Batfleck.

It could be like JK Simmons in MCU Spidey. Just because it's the same actor from a previous iteration doesn't mean it's the same continuity.

I guess (didn't know about Simmons popping up in FFH). I hope that's not the case though. Having the Burtonverse part of this would be fantastic. And I want Michelle Pfieffer, dammit! :argh:

Oh nice, really hope that's true. I like everything mentioned above too.

Do you think he will wear the Batsuit?

You know what... I can see Bruce, black turtle neck jumper still in the cave... watching over the city... perhaps guiding Nightwing... the commander in the office, directing his army...I can still see him as Bruce Wayne doing his bit to help the city... but it's never enough...
Does he don the suit once more... I hope so.... but... this is just my vision... it's the returns cowl...heck even chest plate, but I can see arms, trousers similar to Pattison, where it's like military comfy clothes, that act as armour. His age, he can't were that suit... he just can't... and a more rugged, battle worn stealth suit, modifed from the returns suit would look bad ass. Like, he one gets the cowl out if he really... really needs to....

I'd lose it! lol I can't stop smiling at the thought.

You know, he is, in theory Burton's superman..His Clark would be damn cool, that's for sure.

Imagine the bat mobil, her being started up, damaged, repaired... upgraded... but you knew it was her... wow.

So is this the Burton verse continuing... to make up for the lack of Batfleck... if so, I'm cool with it, but I kinda wanted the bat family to be introduced via the batman bat fleck portrayed...

Keaton has so much chemistry... he can totally be the leader of this team... personally... I don't know how but I would love it retconned by some serious time travel that bruce was born 30 years earlier... the b89 world in the start of the DCEU world.... that leads into mos etc... and that when Barry returns it's that Bruce Wayne we all know and love.. oh well either way the news is exciting.

I wonder if Michael will speak sooner rather than later and if he hit the gym...

This is getting me excited. This and The Batman with no continuation of Affleck's version? What more could I ask for? I hope enough of the Affleck fans like this so I don't have to feel any guilt about both universes doing something that makes me happy. If there's anything that could make the Beyond concept better, it's the legacy attached to Batgirl, and getting rid of the new Batman idea. Plus, in the Batgirl franchise you can go into the more sci-fi and fantasy stuff Reeves probably won't touch.

The reports specifically said it would be the Batman from the Burtonverse. Also, I’ll be completely shocked if he doesn’t appear in costume in this since I’m sure they want to sell a ton of merchandise.

Wonder if we'll see him visiting Alfred's grave, as well as his parents'?

If it’s really true that Keaton will be replacing Affleck as the DCEU Batman...replace Henry Cavill still, but sign me the **** up. I’m way more interested in the complexities and challenges Keaton/Burton’s Batman would face into old age (including possible reflection on more violent behavior and outright killing) than I ever was for Affleck/Snyder’s.

Honestly, just cut out the middle man and make the Batman/Batgirl movie. :funny:

It's not so long ago that there were discussions about whether we'd ever get an animated Batman movie with Keaton reprising the role, and now here we are discussing the very real possibility (I won't let myself say likelihood yet) of him coming back in live-action!

I'm getting similar feelings to those I had with the SuperRouth announcements and pics for the CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths. But more so! (The end result should be better, too!)

Yeah if this works out it's going to be significantly bigger and better!

I would be a lot less enthused if it's just Keaton suiting up as Batman in the Justice League so hopefully it's setting up Batgirl and Bruce is just behind the scenes. Not that I'd be opposed to Bruce suiting up period but I would prefer he not be full time at this point.

This Batman Beyond/Batgirl thing is my jam.
