Microsoft Zune

By my estimation, the way Microsoft does business really marks them as the lazy ones, to be honest. They've held back a great deal of innovation through acquisition. The automobile industry does the same thing. They get away with it not because they are the best or have the most worthy technologies or products, but because they are granted special advantages their competition is not. I never said I hate corporations. I said that I hate unscrupulous business practices, which Microsoft has in spades. ;)

I guess you refering to the fictional car that gets 1200 mpg?

I basically dipped my Nano in water when applying the best skin ever, and it works brilliantly. A "small amount" of water on the "surface" isnt gonna do it, dude.

What I wanna know is will this thing play my .wmv and .mp3s and .jpgs out of the box? Can I drag "My Videos" into "G: Zune" and watch em 10 minutes later? Cuz if not, if there's a bunch of format changing and crap, I'm not interested.

Mustn't have been the water that did it, then. You said you "think" it got wet. "Some" water "must have splashed it" and then "seeped in." I'm sure it was either more water than you're imagining it was, or it was something else that broke it.

If your files are encoded with any kind of DRM protection other than the new one that Microsoft is tying to this device, then no....they won't play. In fact, even M$'s previous "Plays For Sure" DRM doesn't work with this device (they had to find a way to screw all the other MP3 player also-rans with this new music store and device, too, you know.

well, what are you referring too?

Maybe if automobile companies didn't have to pay members from UAW local 666 for two hour breaks, and all of their medical expenses they could spend more money on R&D?

Still though, I would like to know what technology automobile companies are "sitting" on.

I don't know why it wouldn't play wmv's, mp3s, or jpegs since they are all Microsoft file extensions. If it doesn't, then that is just stupid.

It didn't work the next morning I hadn't dropped it for a month
Only thing I could think of that happened to it.

It was a little wet

Don'tcha know?

That 300 mpg carburetor.

Man-Thing said:
yeah, too bad carburetor's don't come on cars anymore.

That's all part of the conspiracy. They got rid of the carburetor so they wouldn't have to save consumer's gas money.

yeah, i mean carbs are really high tech. They rely on something called "gravity" and various other mechanical parts to deliver the air fuel mixture into the combustion chamber. Whereas modern fuel injection is a crude form of fuel delivery which consists of "pressurizing" the air fuel mixture with things called "fuel injectors" which is controlled by a thing called a "computer".

The main point I was making is that some companies are offered unfair greater advantages over their competition thanks to their buddies in government. I used the auto/oil cabal as an example because they've enjoyed some of those same types of privileges. Haliburton would be another great example. But, since you want an example, how about the fact that there was a hybrid car developed back in the 70's that never saw the light of day thanks to the EPA, who were protecting their auto industry friends? Or perhaps you need to watch Who Killed The Electric Car?

I'll tell you who killed the electric car. Consumers did, because they weren't willing to spend hard cold cash on an underperforming car.

Electric cars that were designed to underperform and were way overpriced. Gee...I wonder why they didn't sell. The market is there, though. To this day, the Toyota RAV4-EV's fetch a pretty penny on places like eBay.

I never thought I'd see the day when more people are tooting Apple's Horn more then Microsofts. Seriously, if this were the 90's you'd all feel ashamed and dirty.

This isn't the 90's. ;)

That doesn't mean much, because ideologues are willing to pay any price to make the world more perfect in their opinion.

Only those committed to the electric car were willing to purchase them Those that were unwilling to commit to a car that could only do 50 km/hr and could only run for 150 km, were not, which is 95% of the population.

They weren't overpriced because no company shouldn't be expected to sell products at a loss. It's only when a technology can be produced en mass and at a cheap price could prices come down. That obviously wasn't the case with the electric car.

They weren't made to underperform either, it was simply due to a lack of available technology that the car underperformed.

Even the new Tesla car is only good for 200km or so and that's after 20 years and many advancements of battery technology and the car is being made by battery enthusiastics. There's no conspiracy here.
