...The Midnight Picture Show plans for the Films of Blood have been backed, Variety reported in May 2005, by finance from Lakeshore Entertainment and distribution by Lion's Gate for the first movie - The Midnight Meat Train. Jeff Buhler has adapted the story which has now been 'polished' by Barker and was originally scheduled to be directed by Patrick Tatopoulous (who previously worked with Clive on design concepts for Saint Sinner. Filming, in New York and Montreal, was originally scheduled to begin on the 17th October 2005.
A revised start date of the summer of 2006 was then disrupted, with Fangoria reporting that Tatopoulous had pulled out of directing Midnight Meat Train, citing (in Fangoria's words) 'a busy schedule and other factors'...
Dread Central have now exclusively reported that Ryuhei Kitamura will be taking over as director, saving this project from further stalling. The teaser poster suggests that the "Meat" will remain in the title, despite earlier reports of a shortening to "The Midnight Train".
December 2006 sees Variety report that Bradley Cooper has been cast, clearly impressing producers enough to be toplined.
Watch out for more news ahead of the planned March 2007 shoot...

Vinnie Jones, Brooke Shields and Leslie Bibb are joining the previously-announced Bradley Cooper in Lakeshore Entertainment's The Midnight Meat Train, reports Variety.
The adaptation of the story from Clive Barker's "Books of Blood" collection will be directed by Ryuhei Kitumara.
Shooting begins in Los Angeles on March 18. Lakeshore's Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg will produce with Barker and Jorge Saralegui.
Jones (X-Men: The Last Stand) will play a serial killer who stalks the subways looking for victims. Cooper plays a struggling photographer who decides that tracking down and capturing "the subway butcher" on film will improve his fortunes. Shields plays an art gallery owner who befriends the photographer, and Bibb will play his girlfriend.
Lionsgate will release the movie in North America
