Mighty Avengers returns in Infinity.

Going to the character's page itself, it looks like the whole thing is just a big screw up on someone's part because on his page it says he became a Ronin way back in issue 64 of Daredevil, so more than likely some idiot did a search or read the page wrong without checking the facts, then immediately ran to the Mighty Avengers page and added him like it was the truth. So, again, don't put any faith in him being behind this Ronin/Spider-hero mask.

How was the first issue? I'm interested in this series--enough so that I almost picked up #1--but I really, really hate Greg Land's art.

She looked like Whitney Houston at times.

Actually, I quite enjoyed the issue. I think that's primarily out of my loving and missing Luke Cage since Bendis left the Avengers. I'm not a fan of Land either, but despite him, the first issue's worth a read. I went from zero interest in this but putting it (tentatively) on my ongoing buy list .

Ugh, why does Land have to be one of those artists who can stick around for more than one consecutive arc? I wish he were just doing the opening arc and then bouncing, but it looks like he'll still be around for some time. :csad:

No kidding. I was never so happy as when he left Uncanny X-Men for Iron Man... a title I don't buy. But now this...

At least with Land you know what to expect. Literally. You can probably picture which of his 3 faces he's going to trace throughout the issue before you even pick it up :D

Lol, I see what you did there. :ninja:

I want this series to last at least 100 issues. There should be cosmic battles as well as street level conflicts. The team should be traveling the globe, not just dealing with New York City. Build on Cage's "big idea" from New Avengers where they preemptively go to a city just to "hang out" for a while.

Anything going 100 issues is a joke these days.

I give this book 25 issues at most and that's generous. I'm expecting closer to 17. While I like Luke, it's a 4th tier Avengers title NOT written by a big name... and drawn by Land. I'm not expecting sales to be great past the 3rd issue.

Wait, what did I do? I wasn't consciously doing anything other than lamenting Land's staying power.

You pretty much said the same thing word for word about Opena except praising him. Lol, I thought it was funny.

Good lord, Opena's work is gorgeous. I wish he could manage to stick around for more than an arc here and there on various titles.

Oh, haha, I didn't even notice. I just genuinely wish Opena did more work and Land did less. Or none. None would be great. :oldrazz:

I used to love Land's work back when he did Sojourn. Looking back, he obviously still traced but it wasn't as noticeable.

Just read the first issue. Power Man is a bit of a nuisance, but I usually dislike hot-headed characters(Raphael is the worst Ninja Turtle, yeah I said it :o). I don't know much about Spectrum, but I did her powers. Really looking forward to Blue Marvel showing up too.

You usually dislike hotheaded characters? Don't you love Red Hulk? And Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns?

I thought this wasn't a bad first issue. I liked the new name and suit for Monica. I had no problem with Land's art. I thought Monica looked particularly sexy.

My biggest gripe was the silly Spider-Hero. It feels like a gimmick that makes Cage's Mighty Avengers less serious.

I hope they switch this guy's suit out soon. Superior Spider-Man's snide attitude provides enough comedy for me on the team.

And this has dragged me back to Marvel,... Now to see if I'm gonna like it.

Eh,.. to be clear,... I missed Captain Marvel/Photon/Spectrum, Want to see more of "Powerman Jr.", Felt Luke Cage left on a sour note, and really want to see some resolution with the White Tiger.

With Daniel Rand, And maybe a Scientist on the team,.. I think they would go a ways as an Avengers group.

The new Spider-Man costume has "dark" eyes... :cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

I picked up Issue #2. I enjoyed it. I'm glad that Blue Marvel is joining the team.

I still can't bring myself to buy this while Land's doing the art, so I picked up the entire Blue Marvel mini-series from a few years ago instead. I'm looking forward to reading it.

This art really doesn't look awful. I just don't have the funds.

A s***ty artist doing some slightly less s***ty art doesn't stop him from being a s***ty artist, especially when he's s***ty due in part to ethical concerns about plagiarism.

I read all of Adam, Legend of the Blue Marvel. Pretty damn good. A bit heavy-handed at times, but I love that Adam was characterized as a primarily optimistic hero. He really was pretty much Superman as a black dude. I hope, if nothing else, his stint in Mighty Avengers leads to more people getting interested in him and possibly more writers using him as an Avenger. I mean, sure, we've already got the Sentry and Hyperion and Gladiator, but surely one more Superman analogue can't hurt, especially one so interesting.
