Newsarama is reporting that Mike Wieringo passed away suddenly over the weekend. This is so sad .... I enjoyed his work on the recent Fantastic Four/Spider-Man team up. At the risk of sounding corny, I hope he meets up with Jack Kirby in the Hereafter.

Oh wow.....dang that's young.

I loved his work on FNSM, he definatley will be missed, R.I.P Mike.

You know, that's exactly what I was thinking, Maiden.

The scene in #511 you're referring to is perhaps my favorite scene in all the years I've been reading Fantastic Four. It radiated love and respect for both Jack Kirby and The Four.
And Mike drew it.

This is a very sad day for me.

Sad news. Of the recent FF artists... he was the one I was most excited to have on the series. I became a fan during his run with Waid on the Flash.

It was infuriating when Jemas booted them off the book. Their reprieve was all too short and I was sad to see them depart. I haven't picked up the last issue of the Spider-Man/FF mini-series - but I certainly intend to this week.

While he was still working on the book... I made the trek to Wizard World - Philly specifically to meet Mike and try to get a sketch. I succeeded in meeting him and got a sketch of the Thing from him. When I'm home on the weekend I'll post it.

The world of comics is lessened by his passing.

He succeeded in redefining the look of the FF over a period, which is no small task. It took me a bit to really get used to his style, but it did win me over because you could see that there was passion behind the work. Very sad news indeed.

Ok. I'm behind. But I'm really upset about this.

Your art will live on forever. Thank you.
