Mike Wieringo Passes Away

I just re-listened to his Word Balloon interview, and he is so genuinely nice...This is kind of killing me.

Oh man. I used to pick up FF because of Mike's art. It's sad to see him go. My condolences to his family.

OMG, this is truly sad. I've always enjoyed his artwork. He'll be missed :(

I listened to that today, too. He was incredibly honest and humble and like you said, genuinely nice. I can't imagine what it's like to have been a close friend of his. I feel like I've been in a sad slump all day since I heard about Mike this morning, and I didn't even know him....

I'm literally shocked by this news. This is incredibly sad. I've been a fan of his since I was 12 years old, and have been following his blog since it's inception. From Newsarama:

That's insane. I've been a fan of his work since he got on Spidey in the 90's. I still have the Wizard where he wrote a Drawing Board article and I even just got his recent SPIDER-MAN & THE FANTASTIC FOUR mini-series with Jeff Parker. I'd never have dreamed that'd be his last work. 44? So young. Older than me, but, damn, very young to go.

His work will be missed.

Rest in Piece, 'Ringo. :csad:

I love John Siuntres (If that's how you spell it). Super classy guy that does a great job on those interviews.

Anyone notice that Wieringo kind of resembles his art a little bit, or is that just me?

I first heard about this like an hour ago and I still don't believe it. It's just such a shock. His art was so inspirational; it's some of the best stuff out there. I've always wanted to one day meet him. He seemed like the nicest guy.

That's not by Ringo, by the way.

I wonder why it was on the web page that was showcasing his marvel art then?

Ah,.... A new Artist (Roberto de la Torre) was giving Praise to Mike and Did a Few pages for him At one point.

Examples of his art was Mixed in with Mikes,.. I missed it because of the language barrier.

My Bad.

I first bought Fantastic Four because it was 25 cents....I kept buying it For Ringo........

And the Marvel Legends inspired by his art.

hmmm.....well I can't find a pic of it....but it's got Doom, De Flamd Torch, Thing, Sue, Reed, Franklin and HERBIE....and they all (Not so much Doom) look like Wieringo's art.

this is very tragic news, one of my favs. I am in complete shock. R.I.P

I love that image. Anyone wanna scale it down for me for an avatar?

I haven't bought too much of his work but I loved the work i do have of his. It's a shame to lose such a talent that had such a profound effect on this industry which he proved he had passion for this business rivaled by few and it showed in his work.We should all remember him for his awesome work as well as being a great person.R.I.P Mike. Thanks for everything you gave us fans.

You know Ringo is up there in heaven chilling with God aka Jack Kirby looking down on us. We love ya Ringo.

Peace be with him and all his loved ones.

Geez, his name and the work that went with it always stuck out to me.

****ing hell. It's a good thing I'm already drinking. Mike was one half of the team that made me fall in love with the FF all over again. That run was pretty flawless. I really enjoyed his Spider-Man work too. I'll miss him a lot. R.I.P.

And Dave Cockrum and Bill Finger and all the other comic greats who departed.

I've felt like rereading Waid and his' run on the FF ever since I heard about this. I didn't think the death of someone I don't even know personally would resonate so much. He really was a great artist and from what I've read, a great man. Scott Kurtz's left a memory of sorts on www.pvponline.com as well.

We'll miss you 'Ringo.

You know, Mr. Fantastic gets Thing killed and rips him out of heaven, but when he ends up causing Wieringo's death, do you see him going out of his way?

Way to be a pal, Reed:whatever:

I already made an "Unthinkable" reference...

Pffsh, like I'm going to read 4 pages about a guy who drew characters pretty well but a little dumpy. In the lower half of the body. You know. Maybe the knees looked too low or something. Anyway, he's dead now, so I don't have to put up with that anymore, at least. Thanks 'Ringo!

This might all be the most depressing thing that's happened all year.

Okay, why would you come into a thread of people grieving over someone of whom they were a big fan of, just to piss all over it?
It's one thing to do that with comics you hate, but couldn't you at least pay your respects to the man before you make bad jokes?
