Mission: Impossible 3

He should only get wiser and more experienced with age ;) . Like Batman.
Or out of practice and hey someone was better than him, plus as i mentioned his emotions were shot, that was the point,no more calm cool Ethan but a nerve shattered man out of practice getting his ass handed to him while his girl is hurt by a smart and resourceful sociopath,i liked that element perosnally

And I think we saw some of that "wisdom" with his great scheme for getting the
Rabbit's Foot in China
.

In the original he unhatched the real conspiracy and scheme while also coming up with the plan to infiltrate CIA HQ and stealing the NOC list.

He was not able to do that in this movie.

And that was the big difference in comparing this film to the previous two entries. They developed Ethan's personal life, gave him a deep love, and now threw him into his "normal" world with these new elements in his life. How does he handle being who he is with someone in his heart at all times? That was a nice touch to the film.

It was WB puppy love! ALL ABOUT ONE GIRL!

Killing her would have been ballsy and sent the film up a notch, but in the end, it's still popcorn entertainment at its best, IMO.

you wanted him have a string of women like Bond ? and what is WB ?
as for the other part, please aim that at Slag:)

If they'd killed her it would have made the whole second half fruitless as everything to hero did was for naught........plus i thought she was nice so im glad she lived:O

They gave him a girl in the second movie to that he was "in love with". A plot they ripped off from Notorious.

There was a difference,This was not some lusty deal where they met in some action fashion it was a relationship he had been in for a long period and was moving towards marriage

One can argue it was a lot more than lust.

It was certainly a lot more than a lusty relationship for Cary Grant in NOTORIOUS.

I'm still going to see it though,i think the spectacle will be anjoyable on the big screen and it will make for a more interesting thread to dsiscuss in than some of the crappy one appearing round here that only require us to vote:(

I just got back from a matinee. Great movie all around. People try to justify bad movies like Resident Evil or xXx by saying something like "its just a popcorn film"...then movies like this come along and show them where they can shove that argument. This was a "popcorn movie"...but you know what...it was smart, it was intelligent, it was at times witty...it was just an all around good movie, that was fun to watch. Was it perfect? Not by a long shot...but it also showed that action movies do not have to be made for ******ed people.

Philip Seymour Hoffman...wow...what a great performance from him, by the way.

However...I must admit..."Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall" is the worst action movie one liner of all time. No way around it.

it was supposed to be the code word to let Declan know he was on point but yeah it was corny............still was it really worse then the storm X1 line ?

Agree 100%.

It's popcorn, but it's sweet, buttery, undeniably delicious popcorn.

"It's you who's out, Gobbie....out of your mind." :D Tobey's delivery cracks me up with that one.

It comes close...It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the way they zoomed in on Cruise's face and had him look right into the camera and say it.

At anyrate, this is undeniably the best Mission Impossible movie.

The first was too plot heavy to the point where it felt crowded and confusing.

The second was too heavy on action to the point where there was practically no plot.

This one however, reached the perfect balance. I really wish WB gave Abrahams Superman...even if his first draft sucked...it was just that...his first draft. I am quite confident Abrahams could've made a Superman movie just as well as he did MI:3.

Abrams could make Curious George kick a$$. The man is a rising king of pop cinema/television right now.

Yeah still the way he duped the camera nd did the cool repel straight after allowed me to cut it some slack

So it would seem. Its too bad he abandonded Alias and allowed it to become so damn mediocre.

Holy crap, Alias was so bada$$ when it first started. Then...it just...:( .

The dumb humpty dumpty one liner reminded me of the MTV skit where Ben Stiller was like, hey let's put a line in here while you're fighting where you say, "This mission: it just got a heck of a lot more impossible."

Just to add another element in this movie Abrams and co. blatantly rehashed from Alias:

Closing musical epilogue at the heroes' HQ, in slow motion, no audible dialogue.

Just about every episode of Alias has a scene near the end of the episode shot and edited in the EXACT SAME FASHION.

It sort of reminds me of how Ed Zwick basically rehashed all his scenes from GLORY in THE LAST SAMURAI
