Yeah that was one of my few gripes with the movie. The end when Ethan was "brought back". Felt kinda lame.

I thought it was a cool moment, because of how he immediately grabbed the gun. Plus his dialogue. Plus you know, it was one more emotional strain on the characters, which is what movie's all about: dicking with Ethan and Julia.

What? It was...who cares about the wife/girlfriend. It is Mission: Impossible. I want to see a highly trained team do impossible missions through intricate planning and clever execution, like the TV show. Not Tom Cruise rescue his girlfriend. It was a good movie, but the whole love story was tacky and felt out of place. It worked better in True Lies.

I disagree,it made the stakes higher and took Ethan out of his standard cool as ice routine,plus they were very likeable together in the early scenes

Well of course the only point of the relationship was to add "heart" to the film (whatever that means ). It wasn't "OMG" beautifully done and Shakespearean, but it did its job.

I disagree. I thought it was a forced attempt at what you said. It just all felt forced to me. I think True Lies did a better job with the whole 'wife getting captured by the bad guy thing' because their marriage was falling apart because of his job and she was pulled into the mess. The whole sweet innocent girl thing does not work for me. It might be do to the fact that the girl was too young for me to believe she is engaged to Hunt.

What really would have raised the stakes is if Julia would have died or been killed by Davian. I would have liked the movie more if it had some balls.

No. THat would change the second half of the film completely into something more interesting. Revenge. Ethan's team then having the job to keep him from exacting his revenge. Reminding him that he has a job to do. That sort of thing. I just feel the movie has some room for improvement.

Somewhere in the second act she should die. That is what I think. I think the film would have been more interesting if Ethan had to suffer some consequences for the personal relationship he choose. Anyway, this is all pointless.

The hero didn't lose his wife or son to the shark,killing of some team member heroes is fine but rarely do their spouses or kids get offed
