hey... Woo used the Doves better in Face/off than in M:I:II. The only good things in MI2 were the stuntsKenK said:Here's the thing about M:I-2; had it been a stand alone film with no connection to the Mission Imposible franchise, it might of been acceptable. As a film, it still had a lot I took issue with, especially how quickly they threw Cruise and Newton in bed together. Hunt shouldn't be James Bond.
The problem with M:I-2 was the fact that it was such a drastic departure from the first film. People who took issue with the plot of the first film forced producers to go more the action movie route than the spy thriller route of the first film. And the whole "team" dynamic was a lot stronger in the first film. The second one was just all about Cruise. And while Ethan Hunt is sort of a badass in the first one, him becoming the long-haired wannabe rebel in the second one just made me gag. And for the love of god, the doves!! OH!! THE DOVES!!! WHY, JOHN WOO?!?!? WHY?!?!?!?

.... when is that next Bourne movie coming out?
sure... as long as the Director and the cameraman stop using the F**KING shaky cam thing, really, BS could have been awesome if it wasnt for that... but still, that chase at the end was mind blowing, on of the best everTheVileOne said:Sooner then it took for this MI sequel crap to get made.
And the next Bourne movie will be superior to MI: 3 as well.
Doug Liman, the director of Bourne Identity is doing Bourne Ultimatum, and I don't remember all too well, but I don't think Liman used shakey cam in Identity. Plus he didn't use shakey cam in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, so I don't think he'll do that for Ultimatum. Your wish might just be granted.Sava said:sure... as long as the Director and the cameraman stop using the F**KING shaky cam thing, really, BS could have been awesome if it wasnt for that... but still, that chase at the end was mind blowing, on of the best ever![]()

how many are there?.. i thought it was a trilogy... its great that Liman is doing it, he's better than the guy who did BS.The Phantom said:Doug Liman, the director of Bourne Identity is doing Bourne Ultimatum, and I don't remember all too well, but I don't think Liman used shakey cam in Identity. But after Ultimatum, I wonder if they'll continue to adapt more of Ludlum's novels.
Greengrass did a pretty good job, but like you said, if it weren't for the shakey cam.Sava said:how many are there?.. i thought it was a trilogy... its great that Liman is doing it, he's better than the guy who did BS.
are the books any good?.. are they even out yet?The Phantom said:Greengrass did a pretty good job, but like you said, if it weren't for the shakey cam.
It is a trilogy but Ludlum did other books not about Bourne. And I think Eric Van Lustbader is doing a second Bourne Trilogy where Bourne is much older, and I believe it focuses on his daughter as well. If they ever do that one they're probably going to have to wait until Matt Damon is much older.

As for Mission Impossible. The first one is a classic spy thriller. But the second is a terrible movie. It has no plot and is just a rip off of James Bond and trying to Americanize him for the Jerry Brucheimer audience. The plot was trite. He became a super-spy who had to rely on slow mo and doves to the point of annoyance and unintentional giggling. There was no team dynamic and the villain was terribly boring.
As for this one, well the villain in Phillip Seymore Hoffman looks really good, but Tom Cruise looks really bad in this, just another star vehicle and his performance just from the teaser reminds me more of his boring character portrayal from the second one moreso than the first and the heavy action also reminds me of the second more than the first with little comment on the plot.
I'll see it, but I have low expectations and suspect the only good thing will be Phillip Seymore Hoffman as the villain.
Oh well.
