Models, Inc.

Maybe it's just being resolicited to some time when Marvel thinks the market will be more amenable to it. I don't know when that would be, though.

Me either. Millie was a top selling character, once upon a time. It would be cool to check in with her again.

Toss in Mary Jane and Patsy Walker, and it could be interesting...

I wonder how it'd work with Patsy Walker being the sole Initiative representative for Alaska.

Didn't they say that they were writing MJ out of this, though? I could have sworn that's part of the reason this was held off, is because something big is coming up with her in Spidey. That, and I'm pretty sure she hasn't been mentioned in any of the solicits since it resurfaced.

The little blurb on CBR's preview still has MJ's name in it. Even left off the "Parker," so I assume it's been changed to reflect the post-OMD status.

Im excited for this book. Plus Tim Gunn...how can you not like that guy

thats the best variant cover I've ever seen.

I'll be honest I'm only buying this for the Tim Gunn as Iron Man story. <_<

Color me unimpressed. Shouldn't a comic about models be drawn so the women are, I don't now, attractive?

I'll take solid, clear art that tells the story competently over bootylicious cheesecake art that spends way too many panels forcing the characters into awkward poses to show off their T&A.

I don't even watch Project Runway, but I saw an interview with Tim Gunn on The Daily Show (wherein he talked about Models, Inc.) and I thought he seemed cool. I was getting Models, Inc. anyway because I'll happily support whatever Marvel wants to try to promote other genres within the comic book medium, but I feel even better about it knowing Tim Gunn's got a story in it and he's a nice guy. Although I won't be watching Project Runway anytime soon.

I see your point, but the photographer shouldn't be the prettiest one in the book. :whatever:

I don't think any of the characters are ugly, so I guess we just have different tastes. They look rail-thin and have bold features with high cheekbones, which is what real-life models tend to look like. I don't think a lot of real models are particularly hot either. Too skinny for my tastes.

Chili Storm has a Shannen Doherty thing going on in page 6 (panel 4). I always liked Shannen :yellow: so I am amused by this.

He really is great. Quite funny too. I was interested in this before and then when I saw the episode and found out he would get to wear the Iron Man suit in the book I was for sure in.

My friend expressed interest in it after she saw that interview, and she rarely ever reads comics other than the ones I basically shove down her throat. So kudos to Marvel for finding ways to get wider audiences interested. I hope Models, Inc. is good and sells well so that we can see a greater variety of comics from Marvel.

It would be nice to break comics out of the stigma that they are only about super heroes.

Yeah, especially from Marvel. DC and Image have been making an effort to break that perception. It'd be nice if Marvel jumped in too.

Anyone read the first issue? I enjoyed it. The story seems solid, although bits of the dialogue here and there felt awkward to me. I don't know any of the characters other than Patsy Walker and, to a far lesser extent, Millie. Chili Storm seems fun, though. The other two models didn't make much of an impression on me, even though one is apparently dating the Human Torch (nice touch there to make the comic live in the Marvel universe a bit more, for those who are interested in that sort of thing).

The backup story with Tim Gunn was amusing. I like the idea of a fashion memorial for the Wasp. It would've been nice if we could've seen something with Hank there, but I suppose any actual superhero's presence would've cheated Gunn out of his turn to play hero. ;)

TBH I have yet to read the main story. I went right for the Tim Gunn story in the back which I thoroughly enjoyed. I found it highly amusing that they added some of his catch phrases like "Make it work"

The main story's getting pretty bad reviews, unfortunately. I thought it was good. Not great, but good. But I guess I'm in the minority.
