Mom Chews On Infant's Brain: 'I didn't mean to do it!'

I don't understand why we let really crazy people live........it's not like they have much of a life. Maybe we should round them up into "camps" or something, to help them with their "concentration". You didn't hear that from me

Well the same goes for two alcoholics who must stay sober. Most parents have qualifiers due to some personal flaw.

Are you suggesting it should be illegal for two people with schizophrenia to raise a child? How Orwellian.

I'm suggesting that there should be limits on who should be allowed to raise children. Just because someone is able to breed doesn't automatically make them someone who should be a parent, the amount of people who legitimately abuse their own offspring is testament to that.

I'm sorry but this wench should burn for this. Read on.

SAN ANTONIO – A Texas mother accused of decapitating her 3-week-old son screams "I didn't mean to do it. He told me to!" while her sister pleads for an ambulance to bring help in a desperate four-minute 911 call released Wednesday.

Otty Sanchez, who police say told them the devil made her kill and mutilate her only child, cries "I love him" and says she's stabbed herself in the heart and stomach while her sister tries calming down the 33-year-old mother.

At one point during the frantic call, Priscilla Garcia tries reassuring her sister that she is alive. "Otty, this time I told you to come to me," Garcia says.

"I tried, but you told me that you died," Sanchez responds.

"I'm not dead, Otty," Garcia says. "I'm standing right here talking to you."

Sanchez, 33, is charged with capital murder in the slaying of Scott Wesley Buchholz-Sanchez, who authorities found decapitated and grossly mutilated in a bedroom of her sister's house early Sunday. Police say Sanchez chewed off three of her infant's toes and ate parts of the brain. She used a knife and two swords in the attack, according to police.

Garcia tells the dispatcher that her sister has stabbed her child and that blood is all over the bed.

"She's gone crazy last night. She was hearing voices," Garcia says. "She kept bringing me the baby. And finally she calmed down and I took her back the baby. And now I just woke up to hear screaming."

She continues, "The baby is dead. The baby's dead. Please, somebody come."

During the call, the dispatcher instructs Garcia not to touch the baby or anything in the area. The call ends with the dispatcher saying help is on the way.

Sanchez, who had been hospitalized after the killing, was being held on $1 million bond at the Bexar County jail. It was not immediately clear Wednesday whether she had an attorney.

Scott W. Buchholz, the infant's father, said Sanchez suffered from postpartum depression and that she told him she was schizophrenic a week before the slaying. Buchholz, who said he also is schizophrenic, said he wants her to receive the death penalty.

A family member has said Sanchez had been undergoing psychiatric treatment and that a hospital called looking for her several months ago. Gloria Sanchez, the mother's aunt, said her niece had been "in and out of a psychiatric ward."

In May 2008, Otty Sanchez's mother, Manuela Sanchez, called police after her daughter didn't return from a trip to Austin, saying she was concerned about her daughter's safety. Manuela Sanchez told police she suspected her daughter was into drugs and specifically told police she wasn't suffering from any mental issues.

Buchholz last saw Sanchez and his son the day before the killing. He said Sanchez had moved in with her parents a week earlier, leaving him July 20 after being briefly hospitalized for depression but released that same day.

Sanchez brought "Baby Scotty" over to see his father the day before the slaying, and Buchholz said she became irate when he asked for copies of the birth certificate and other documents, then left in a huff with the baby.

Priscilla Garcia called 911 before 5 a.m. the next morning. Police say the killing took place in a bedroom and that no one else was injured.

Okay. So this heifa...like took a sword, chopped into her baby's head and fed on his brain??? What the holy hell? At what point does a person just check out so they could perform such an act???? This takes the term "f***ed up" to an entirely new level. :csad:

this is sick.

The fact that she tried to kill herself afterward shows that she knew she that killing the baby was wrong. She's going to fry.

QFT. You got it spot on.

I've always believed she knew exactly what she was doing--illness or no illness. At some point she HAD to know she was going to get in trouble for this. There are only two reasons why she'd try to kill herself:

1.) She felt sorrow/guilty/emotionally crushed over what she had done--which may show premeditation possibly.

2.) She didn't want to face the consequences of her actions.

I'm leaning more towards #2...which if that's the case, shows a gross degree of selfishness. :cmad:

If your eating your infant, predetermined or not there is something severely wrong with you.

Let it be a mental illness or just being absolutely cruel.

If medical reports find that this woman had prior mental issues then she needs to get some serious help (only if this "illness" can be attributed to her barbaric act).

If not she needs to be taken care of (lethally injected). Good riddance.

Tired of having people like this behind bars which are funded by tax payers money. When it could be spent on education, infrastructure etc.

Bad news. It's not cheaper to kill them. The appeals process for death row inmates takes up millions of dollars.

Guilt or remorse is very possible, even with bouts of insanity.

She'll likely be determined mentally unfit, and tried as such.

I'm sorry but this wench should burn for this.
I don't think she should burn. She's not evil, she's desperately ill. If anything, she shouldn't have been allowed to have children if she's been in and out of a psychiatric ward and the DAD'S schizophrenic too.

Although you don't know if someone's prone to post-partum depression unless they've already had the baby...:o

I feel like I could vomit after reading this... literally. It not only sickens me that someone could do something so horrifying to someone, let alone their own child, but also that people, in general, can lose it like that. It's truly terrifying.
Exactly.

A woman's body; she should be able to do whatever the hell she wants with it.

Oh where hath I heard this before hehhehhe

Forgot about that.

I remember thinking they should just kill them off at a quicker rate not allowing them to appeal but that would lead into more messy legal territory.

Its a broken system.

I was more thinking along the lines of someone in the family bringing up her fitness as a mother and having a judge taking the child away. After the baby is born. :cwink:

Killing them quickly is a good way to deprive them of appeals processes and the chances of mistrials are much higher. You are right it's a broken system, any system that kills it's citizens is broken though.

She deserves a cannonball to the knee for this one.

Shortly followed by the painful procedure of uterus removal.

I really hope you NEVER have the power to kill someone lawfully.

She...opened her child's head and ate the contents. How is that NOT evil?

Again, the fact that she tried to end her life afterward shows that she knew what she had done was wrong.

Your post makes absolutely no sense considering that we're talking about someone who killed a young child who was utterly defenseless.

Unless of course, you'd grant her protection for her actions. If so...good for you. And for her. :whatever:

My sense of justice suggests that people like this do not get "excuses" for ending lives--"unlawfully" as you'd probably put it. Putting her in jail would only put other inmates--and their toes and brains--at risk...not to mention piling on more $$$ onto this country's already outrageous deficit. :o

"Evil" is one hell of a loaded word - the use of which assumes there is no gray area in this matter.

Again, the fact that she tried to end her life afterward shows that she knew what she had done was wrong.

All that shows is that she realized what she did afterwards and hated herself enough to want to end her life.

Considering this woman is schizophrenic, one must take into account her state of mind. Most likely being an episode, this brutal act was in no way a conscious decision of hers. If she was of sound mind I sincerely doubt this would have happened.

I don't consider murderers "citizens". I have no problem with the death penalty taking care of them.

What do you suggest we do with them? Rehabilitation to not murder again?

I think in cases where the evidence isn't circumstantial and almost definite they should be executed immediately.

In the end this just shows how incredibly flawed humans are. Such self destructive creatures no matter what angle you look at it.

Let it be imprisonment or being in death row its wasting my money on resources to take care of murderers who have shown a total disregard for human life. One example being California which is falling apart with its deficit, I can only hope they wise up and find a way to get rid of these people in a more inexpensive fashion.

If we would put this money to work in prevention programs and education then we could avoid a number of these incidents.

No pun intended I'm sure.

That's a viable conclusion--but not the only one. But let's go with your assumption: doesn't that show a level of conscience? If so, how can she get off on being crazy? I'm not discounting her illness, but it just seems as if there is a level of conscious decision-making there to some extent. Whatever the amount, it may destroy whatever hopes she has of avoiding the death penalty.

So you're saying she just checked out, bludgeoned the child, checked back in to reality and felt remorse? And I am genuinely asking this, not to be sarcastic.
