Monopoly

So where's the Uno or Scrabble movies?

I think games like these would be great as a comedy-style approach. Portray them as an amazing underground crime world like The Fast & The Furious.

"The tiles are light. The board is slick. When you Scrabble, if you ain't OUTTA control, you ain't IN control."

Everyone who's bashing this just shut up. This is a cool fresh idea in a sea of sequels and derivitave garbage...

Sorry but it has to be said.

I'm sure glad they're taking a CHANCE...

thank you... thank you... I try.

I suppose Stratego: The Motion Picture never quite got off the ground.

I have to agree. At least it's not a sequil and something orginal in a sea of rehased ideas.

pity when new things are tried and they are actually good they dont get the credit they deserve..... grindhouse :(

300 doesnt count to me.... sorta took sin city's thunder

I think you guys are getting a little too goofy about it. Coming up with random board games you know damn well couldn't make movies. Monopoly has always been based in the corporate world, only somewhat exaggerated. It's like people that talk about when movies like Tomb Raider and the upcoming Warcraft..."what's next, Pong the movie?"

Who would play paddle 1?

I am honestly interested in where this project goes, however you have to admit that pretty much everyone's first reaction was WTF?

Passing around balls. That's right.
i wasnt thinking that at all.........:ninja:

its nice that they at least have talent on the project... thats never a bad thing

This is true. I mean it's Ridley Scott, not Uwe Boll. It's going to be very interesting, I'm looking forward to more development.

Is this gonna be a comedy? Cause I can see this working better as a comedy. If it's gonna be a drama movie then it should be about John Rockerfeller IMO :o.

Here's an idea. Make a movie called 'The Nothing Movie.' The entire movie is nothing but 2 hours of a blank screen. Spielberg can produce it and Tarantino direct.

How's that for originality? I think it has Oscar potential.

With Ridley Scott directing it just may very well be that serious. Like I said, Wall Street.

Heh.

I basically expect a Scott-directed Monopoly film to be more along the lines of "Matchstick Men" which was often comedic, than something more akin to that of Wall Street. But we'll see.

if they go the serious route.. i think theres an 80% chance it will suck :(

Hmmmm, here's an idea...

After the first Monopoly movie they make two more. One is a sequel set in the distant future and is titled Monopoly: 2150. The third would be a prequel titled Monopoly: The Begining.

Point blank, if they can turn the Pirates ride into the franchise it is now, surely he can do the same with Monopoly.

but still... why serious?...

the Clue game was about murder... and it was a comedy! lol

somehow i think ridley might go the serious route... as are all of his other movies :( ... but for now im just glad they have talent on there
