Acting: I'd give Godzilla the nod, Wantanabe and Cranston were better than Idris(the only good acting in PR).

Action: I'd actually have to give PR the nod in this, there was more of it.

Story: I'm almost inclined to give this a tie, but I will give Godzilla a slight, slight nod over PR.

Visuals: Both were good for what they were going for, it's a matter of taste I guess, but for me Godzilla was slightly better. PR was good for what they wanted.

Replay Value: Hmm, have to wait until Godzilla comes to Blu Ray for this.

Overall: I give Godzilla the nod, I prefer grounded looking stuff, realistic type visuals so that's who I go with.

Pacific Rim had me bored out of my mind. Haven't seen Godzilla yet, though at least Godzilla looks much cooler than the generic designs in Pacific Rim.

Pacific Rim had better fights.

Hard to choose.

Godzilla/ monster moments were better than anything on PR, and Cranston scenes were more emotional than the drama in PR. But, those things were like 1/3 of the movie, with the 2/3 led by Aaron Johnson boring me to death. PR was more consistent, always fun and never boring, but never got as bad ass as Godzilla's scenes and as emotional as Cranston scenes. Im torn. I need to watch Godzilla a 2nd time.

I pretty much think Godzilla is absolute rubbish. So Pacific Rim by default.

I absolutely hated Godzilla. The acting by the lead is like a block of wood. I wonder Whedon gets a better performance out of him. I thought Cranston was extremely melodramatic, did not like his performance at all. Watanabe had to be play the dumb possessed scientist thing. Poor Sally Hawkins saddled with the worst dialog of her career, she a lady who just got Oscar nominated for being in a Woody Allen film had to speak with great gravitas "I think it is an EMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Elizabth Olsen had to look scared and run for her life. The great Juliette Binoche - killed in the first 5 minutes.

The tone of the movie felt patently melodramatic. The arrangement of the story was only for convenience sake and riddled with plot holes. Olsen carrying her kid suddenly decides she will stay behind and stops the first bus that she sees coming her way and it just happens to have the lady who offered to take her child.

Taylor Johnson somehow always managed to be around whenever an attack happened. In the end when Godzilla starts doing that blue fire or whatever the hell it was, I was like WTF??? Where did that come from.

This movie was a fail for me on all levels. Even Desplat's main motif seemed to be ripped out Giacchino's motif for the present day scenes in John Carter.

2/10

I think even the visual effects were shoddy.

Pacific rim was fun
Godzilla was boring

Pacific rim wins.

Easily godzilla. Pacific rim bored me. You can only throw so much cheesy action at the screen before it becomes a tiring mess.

Pacific Rim has one of my favorite scenes in cinema history. Gipsy Danger taking on the two Kaiju's in Hong Kong still gives me the shakes. It is cinematic nirvana. Nothing in Godzilla got close to that for me. All around, I find Pacific Rim to be a superior film. Some truly poignant moments to go with the insanity imo.

Taking your lead here...

Acting: A tie if i be honest...

Action: Pacific rim.. More of it and the action was faster paced and more enjoyable.

Story: A tie... A big monster turns up to balance out bad monsters v/s monster crawl through a rift to cause havoc... A tie

Visuals: HMMmmmm.... I wasn't overly keen on th edesigns of the monsters in either film... But Godzillas design was pretty awesome... Godzilla gets the vote

Replay Value: I honestly don't think i could sit through Godzilla again. However i've watch Pacific rim a few times.. So.. Pacific rim gets the vote.

Overall: Overall i think Pacific rim was far more entertaining... So Pacific rim gets the vote.

I say Godzilla is miles better than Pacific Rim

Totally agreed, Godzilla has grown on me a lot on BD, but PR is still the superior movie for me, and that action scene you is one of the best actions scenes ever in my mind.

Godzilla. I liked the human characters plus the way the movie handled its kaiju. I also liked Pacific Rim, but I liked Godzilla a little bit more than I did Rim.
