More rumors for 09

I don't even understand how people can say Microsoft is losing steam. I mean it was just what 3 months ago that they had Gears, and Fable? Not to mention all the exclusive DLC. I jumped back on GTA IV for TLAD. I'm going to start Fallout 3 soon and I know I have 2 and a third DLC to look forward to later this year.

They had a good winter quarter, and I think they are just waiting to release more info in June at E3 but seriously I feel their business has been good why tip their hands until June?

I don't think people are necessarily saying that MS is losing steam like the article suggests, but that it's losing as compared to what's expected of Sony and the PS3 this year based on their software. And, in all seriousness, if you look at the current slate of exclusive titles and detach yourself away from any basis for either company/system, it's hard to really not see that. As far as '09 goes, anyway.

Will MS pull a big stream of announcements to swing that balance one way or the other? Well, we'll see, the possibility is definitely there. The ball is in their court.

This is all software-wise anyway, the hardware price, in my opinion, is what's the real issue for most people and why MS keeps steaming over the PS3's light mist

The only thing I noticed is yeah they have a lot of exclusive titles but some of them aren't even due out til early 2010. I think God of War 3 is slated for December 30 of 2009? Right now yeah it looks like PS3 has a lot of good titles coming out however, I'm still waiting for E3.

I've not heard an official release date or anything for God Of War, so I wasn't counting it. Sony says it'll be out by the end of the year, but I'm still quite skeptic.

But we still have KillZone 2(Which just hit), Heavy Rain, InFamous, Ratchet & Clank, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Uncharted 2 and the possibilities of White Knight Chronicles and Demons Soul and a slim possibility of GT5 and GOD3. Of course this is all depending on if those games live up to hype and all that yada yada.

Compare that to MS's only real big upcoming exclusive in Halo 3:ODST, which you could argue is just an expansion, and their other which just hit in Halo Wars. I'm not counting Alan Wake as I have doubts that it'll come out at all, much less in '09.Not much going on right now going on in the house Master Chief built. E3 may change that, though.

The real factor that is helping MS is that a huge majority of destined big sellers this year are multiplatformed. SFIV, RE5, Bioshock 2, Dragon Age, etc. With the current price points that's a big plus for them

I think Rockstar would be silly to give exclusive rights to either Microsoft or Sony in terms of GTA V. Mainly for the reason of how many games it sold over both consoles, the chances of it selling that many units on any one system no matter who has the "edge" wouldn't be cost effective for them.

I was scratching my head at this for a second, but I was saying GT5, as in Gran Turismo 5, not GTA V.

Whoops. Although I've been hearing rumors how Sony is about to announce some game that's going to sell consoles. Rumors are GTA V or MGS 5. I doubt it's either though.

I think unless Microsoft have some big announcements at E3, it does appear that 2009 is not a good year for Xbox 360 exclusives, since they don't have anything big lining up except for multiplatform games. I don't really care, though, because I just want good games and not just exclusives. However, I'm more annoyed (as a 360 owner) that I have to pay for the wireless adapter and Gold membership, as PS3 owners get their adapter and online play for free.

Well, if Xbox Live was free then the service would have to be stripped down like Sony's or maybe even Nintendo's (yuck!). Also, speaking of exclusives, do you like The Lost and Damned? Do you like The Pitt? Well, without people paying for Xbox Live you can kiss exclusive DLC like that goodbye.

Like Pandamar says, then you'll get the PSN and the wi-fi thats built in with the PS3. Both are sub par to whats offered on the Xbox. Ya get what ya pay for, plain and simple.

MS has a few things going for it tho. Forza 3. Fable II DLC. Fallout 3 DLC. The second GTA IV DLC. Halo 3: ODST.

Really the ONLY, and i mean ONLY exclusive title I'm set on is Among Thieves. So its my opinion that the PS3 is lacking just as much as the 360. Heavy Rain, at this point, just looks like one long QTE cutscene. InFamous looks a tad dodgy(altho im still gonna look at that one with a closer eye) Iv never cared for the Ratchet and Clank games, as they just aren't anything to write home about. Iv already played Ninja Gaiden so thats nothing new. This yr its all about the multiplat. Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, Riddick, Batman:AA, Ghostbusters etc.

You may be right, but after spending over $100 for both adapter and Gold ($70 for an used adapter from Ebay, $40 for 13 month Gold membership, also off Ebay), I just wonder if PS3 owners are really that worse off, since they save over $100 for both.

None of these titles really interest me. However, the exclusives that I wish they'd be on 360 are MGS4, LBP, God of War 3, and Gran Turismo. For 360, I agree that their downloadable DLC like TL&D for GTA4 are indeed better, but aside from Gears of War I don't really find the urge to purchase other exclusive games (not interested in Halo). I still love my 360 though, as long I don't get RROD. /knock on wood

how is built in wi-fi subpar to not having it at all?

I meant the PS3's built in Wi-Fi is subpar to the external one MS has. Both my PS3 and 360 are next to each other and my PS3's signal is constantly much lower. Like i said, you get what you pay for.

Eh, i dont think its really that much of a difference. For 100 bux id say its worth it tho. Paying for Live is certainly worth it compared to the PSN tho. If it wasn't, i wouldn't be using Live anymore, id of switched over to the PSN exclusively.

Yea im with you, id trade Gears of War and Halo for just for the Uncharted franchise.

On a side note dude, just from reading your posts and i remember back when you were asking about consoles, but why did you go with the 360? It seems, to me, that you made the wrong choice and should have gone PS3.

But it doesnt come with the system. You have to dish out an extra $100 for it. Ive only ever used the Wi-fi with my PS3 and Ive been very satisified with the results. Id take that fee rather than pay $100 for an add on adapater

I didn't know about Forza, but as far as it goes, I mean the DLC stuff is good for them, but honestly, we are only taking about a few hours of extended game to time to pre-existing games. I don't really think you can measure that up to true, blue full game.

I see that, but I was speaking in more general terms. I personally don't give two peices of monkey **** mounted in the mouth of a dead British hooker about Halo 3 ODST, GT5 or WKC, but I still acknowledge them and that to some audiences they could be important. That's more what I'm talking about as opposed my personal opinion. Just happens that matches my opinion this time around, yay :)

As far as Heavy Rain, that's kind of the point, did you ever play Indigo Prophecy? The games aren't for everyone I guess, but I've not really found anyone who didn't at least somewhat enjoy IP (until it went into it's crazy twist, anyway).

And Ninja Gaiden, man, it's Ninja Gaiden:huh:

I would too but not when it takes an hour to download a demo that only takes 15-30 min on my 360. Like i said, i got a "free" wi-fi adapter for my PS3 and its acts like a "free" adapter.

Well im not gonna write off Heavy Rain yet, just from what iv seen it doesnt appeal to me, but it looks absolutely stunning so yea ill at least give it a go most likely. Ninja Gaiden was awesome, your right, back when it released in June.

Originally I was leaning toward PS3, but I decided to get 360 because I found out that one of my friends have 360, and another was thinking about buying it. However, after I brought mine I found out that the friend who has 360 doesn't play online, and another decided to postpone buying his. If I weren't happy with 360 I'd have been pissed heh, although at times I wonder if all the 360 exclusives are better than PS3's built-in wireless adapter, free online play, and the ability to upgrade your HD with a cheaper alternative, as well as a blu-ray player.

Eh, well imo, the only 360 exclusive(s) worth having is Gears 1 & 2. I just really like the 360's interface compared to the PS3's. Thats really the main reason i log onto my 360 more than i do my PS3.

I have to say that Ninja Gaiden at least on the 360 was probably one of the hardest games to play and that was on Normal.

Anyway, my story was, the 360 came out first and for like the first year, the games just weren't there but when I jumped on they started coming out with solid games. It seems that PS3 has finally started coming out some good games with some other games on the horizon but for someone like me who:

a) is pretty much set up with games for months (I just started Fallout 3, I have Halo Wars and I want to go through Mass Effect again before the 2nd DLC comes out)

b) knows of games in the future that I want (previously mentioned Mass Effect DLC, Arkham Asylum, BioShock 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and Mass Effect 2)

and c) in the economy that we have, spending close over $500, including a game just doesn't make sense to me right now.

Honestly, I'm more inclined to pick up the DSi for GTA: Chinatown Wars.
