The Real Inspirations For X-Men: The Last Stand

Storm

storm5bu.jpg

Halle Berry was upset because there wasn’t much focus on Storm in the first two movies, so they made her leader of the X-Men in X3 and gave her a new hair cut. Now she looks like the pasty chick from Farscape.

Wolverine

Mad Dog did the whole “lighting up from burning car wreckage” thing way back in Hard Boiled.

Beast

The X3 version of Beast just doesn’t look right to me, unless they were going for Jeff Goldblum’s Earth Girls Are Easy look. And another thing, Beast is wearing shoes in the trailer. Beast don’t wear no shoes!

Callisto

How did the eye patch turn into a face tattoo? Yarrr, what do you have against an eye patch?

Let’s take a quick break to examine:

Colossus

I think they improved the CG for Colossus since this picture was taken, so he’ll look better in the movie. Anway, I couldn’t help but think that he looked an awfully lot like Destro (minus the pimp chain).

Juggernaut

Juggernaut is easily the most absurd new character design in X3. Vinnie Jones is wearing S&M bondage gear with an iron soup kettle on his head. Then it hit me. It’s… Ram Man, heroic ally of He-Man and head-butter of all things evil!

Magneto

Magneto hasn’t changed from the first two movies, but he always reminded me of M. Bison. Take the pseudo-military dictator uniform with cape and just replace the dorky hat with the dorky helmet.

I don't even know what to say. Mostly with the Earth Girls Are Easy inspiration... :(

I wasn't expecting this...but WOW:up: ... :) Hmmm 3 Jean's in one. -goes crazy-

ram-man... don't ya know who I am? I'm the ram-man bich. lol. hmmm now that i think of it, leech does remind me of the golden child. Maybe there are lots of other sort of connections that can be made.

Jean's phoenix was sorta like Galadiel from lord of the rings, when she became that weird evil witch thing. Or better yet, Zuul from ghostbusters 1.

M. Bison ripped off Magento I remember having a discussion about that one here lol!!!

Oh god I had repressed memories of Earth girls are easy.

This reminds me of something funny Bryan Singer said. In the X men commentary he states how he hates making movie to movie comparisons then in X2 he likens almost every scene in the movie to something done by a previous film.

Empire Strikes back, Jaws etc. It's funny how many there are.

anyone here ever see the movie, lifeforce?

I thought a lot of the movie was like it in some ways.

OMG THIS IS SO WEIRD!!!!!!!! i would catch a few episodes of farscape and i always noticed how similar the hair was to storms. i was like wow did they borrow the wig?? thats weird but i knew it!

It's really not weird at all. It has to come from somewhere.

Planet Krypton in the 1978 Superman movie was inspired by the BBC's Dr Who.

well the pyro iceman fight was inspired by dragonball z

 Best thread for a long, long time.

Without even reading, I know there will be some posters saying, "X-Men 3 is based on the comics, it is not influenced by anything else" just like they do with every single movie.
Thanks!:D

Juggernaut vs Kitty is based on this commercial.
Download it here: http://www.framestore-cfc.com/commercials/levi_odyssey/levis_60sec.mov

The way Phoenix killed everyone reminded me of a similar effect in MJ's 'Remember the time' video.

Yeah, actually, I believe they hired the same company that worked on that commercial to do the effects for X3.

Heh...the Farscape comparison is hilarious...and somewhat true! LOL :p
