Haven't hopped on here in a while t: Anyway, as for the graphics, I think the thing is that they're using the in-game models as opposed to creating FMV graphics from the ground up (like the announcement trailer right before E3) for the cut scenes... but even those don't look bad to me. The lighting, motion blurring, particle effects, etc, do indeed look much better than MK9 and Injustice. If anything, the game is showing a progression of Netherrealm's work, and I can see why there's difficulty in porting the game to previous gen.
Also, to the one who thinks that the final boss could be
Shinnok's true form, for those of us who actually remember MK Mythologies
... this actually makes sense. However, I wouldn't mind it being either
Reiko or Havik
either, especially due to what's going on in the comics. At least it doesn't seem like Liu Kang, but I do like his jaded personality due to Raiden's haphazard actions in the previous games. Sad to think that Kang didn't get much of a personality until he became a revenant
I guess higher than most here. NRS' character models have never been great in their cutscenes. Good thing the gameplay is good bc they will never win a Great Visuals award. This is a PS4/X1 game in year 2 of the consoles and it looks like its from last gen, which is more dissappointing bc this particular team isnt handling a version for that gen
I will agree that the cut scenes look last gen and that they should be much better. I admit I was disapointed in the graphics the first time I saw the story trailer.
Good thing the gameplay looks great including visually and anything with gameplay is most important
The difference is even more apparent in some titles released just a little later. The character models in Killzone 2 and Heavy Rain for example aren't just comparable; they are better
It's not a big graphical leap compared to them. Of course they obviously have a bigger polygon count simply because of the better hardware. But even with that, details like the hair still don't look impressive. Not by today's standards, not even by pre-2009 standards.
Would it have cost NR too much or make them go too over budget ,If they had used the animations and graphics from the reveal trailer for the cut scenes?
The reveal graphics is amazing and top quality but seems like the standard in newer games like Batman AK. Although I think AK will be the first true new gen game

The Witcher comes out before Arkham Knight. That's the first true next gen title and that's not open for discussion. It's Witcher, then everything that follows.
Are graphics really that important? I get it, we've all got new fancy toys, but if you really wanted the best graphical output, You would be playing on a high end PC.
