Agreed, but then again, thats like saying Mega Croc vs Giant Octopus is the best of Sy Fy's monster movies. They're all cringe worthy.

No it's not. Take the time and play Deadly Alliance's Konquest mode, There is MK's narrative presented without the cheese. I won't argue that the story has been delivered poorly once the era of voice acting hit, but just because a story is told poorly, that doesn't make the fictrion itself bad. That's the fault of the storyteller which is something they claim to be fixing with this new incarnation. You brought up MGS, I both love and loath MGS for its story. I love the fiction itself, I loath how its told. Its painfully redundant and in dire need of an editor. It's also told non interactively. Any game where I set my controler down for more than 30 minutes at a time, isn't a very a good game.

i gotta respectfully disagree, I think the whole mk universe/mythos is very interesting, and the characters are great (at least mk4 and before) its the characters/universe/story/mythos that kept me coming back and staying a fan even through the less popular newer games (which I still liked haha i guess im just an MK fanboy)

I'm just not entirely sure how one can not see the GOOD story in MK. It's not friggin' Mass Effect or Elder Scrolls but it's pretty good.

And far better than anything on SciFi.

I come to MK for the gameplay, not for the horrible storyline.

Considering most of the MK games post UMK3 have been complete garbage in the gameplay department and there are much better fighting games out there and there are also far more violent games on the market theses days....why else would you come to this series?

I will give credit where credit is due. this new title is the first MK game since UMK3 (or arguably EVER) that looks like a legitimate fighting game. I just don't wanna see any ******** infinites, TSD ********, rage combo ********, 50/50 mix up ********, unbalanced ******** and general broken fighting game ********.

No its not, I love the Mortal Kombat mythos. I spent more time in deception and Armageddon's Konquest modes than I ever did playing the core fighting modes because I was far more interested in the story, that and the three style engine was a broken mess, I swear that engine never felt like complete to me. the fighting itself was painfully limited, there were no throw escapes, MKDA and MKD had no wake up options, MKA had wake up options but cut each character down a fighting style which made things worse, infinites out the ass, TSD ********... I could rant about how bad that engine was for days, but I'll stop now....

very nice!! im going to preorder the collectors edition. Im buying a ps3 today, i want one for marvel vs capcom 3, and no way in hell im missing kratos as a playable character in mk9, as well as his fatalities, and stage (which ed said has the most intricate stage fatality in any mk game ever)

if this was the other games id say just get the regular version, but this game looks way too awesome, i had to go for the kollectors edition...I mostly want the art book and the extra DLC, dont care much about the figures but they'll be cool. I never got into the fight sticks so no tournament edition for me

The Reptile classic skin is all I want.
I think the new design for this game is dreadful. I can't take that face seriously.

And I'm also eager to play as Kratos and check his stage. His fatalities must be great.

im going to have to wait on the reptile skin, I want it most but im not preordering from amazon, screw that noise, I need the game the second its out haha so im gonna be going through ebgames/gamestop (scorpion for me) the scorp costume was the last one i wnated from the 3, but his classic toasty fatality is the fatality i wanted most from the 3.
