What do you guys think is the most underrated MCU movie?

Personally, my vote goes for either AoU or Thor 2, I can't decide.

Thor 2 has a wonderful LOTR-esque aesthetic, some truly awesome battle sequences, costume designs that are very memorable, an introduction to the Infinity Stone concept, a tease of GOTG, an epic score, and Tom Hiddleston's best performance as Loki.

AoU has the Avengers at their peak, Ultron, an introduction to Black Widow's past, 2 sneak peaks at Infinity War courtesy of Thor and Tony Stark, Nick Fury's rebuilt SHIELD (complete with a nod to the TV show), further exploration of the Infinity Stones, Thanos saying he's getting off his butt, the New Avengers concept, a score that incorporates themes from multiple films, and the amazing transformation of Paul Bettany from Jarvis to Vision.

I'd agree with AoU. To me, it's still one of the top MCU films.

AoU. It gets too much hate and I understand why, i.e. Ultron should never be destroyed, just contained. They should have went a different route as opposed to an army of robots. Hulk - Widow love makes no sense. However, overall, it was a very good movie.

Shouldn't this be limited to say: AOU, TFA, Thor, IM3, TIH, IM2 & T: DW?

Yeah some of those films on the list, if anything are overrated rather than underrated..

I voted Thor: The Dark World anyway because I seem to be in the minority on these forums in thinking it was a decent movie.

I'm going with the first Thor movie.

It's a decent film that, to my mind, isn't as problematic as other films on the list.

Iron Man 3, though only because it has a lot of people who *reaaaally* hate it pulling the average down.

Yeah, going with Thor. It's a fun little movie without a lot to complain about.

About my choices:

Thor actually nailed a very hard premise to sell in what was a relatively grounded world up until it came out. The movie had heart, humour and a fantastic cast, all of which helped selling the charaters/world/premise to the audience. It was GotG before GotG for me,even with its lack of action and the feeling of being filmed on a set stage. I remember walking out of the theather thinking how well they nailed that movie.

Iron Man Three was a great character study for Tony Stark and an interesting ,if controversial, deconstruction of what constitutes a hero/villain in a superhero movie and kept Shane Black's voice throughout its whole running time.

Age of Ultron is one of my favourites really. I find it far more interesting than Avengers. I love the scope, the characters interactions, the action, the weirdness of it all. For all the complaining about the humour, the big set-piece actually ends with a conversation in which the good guy agrees with the bad guy that humanity is doomed.Whedon made a lot of surprising choices that many people disliked like Ultron's origin/character, Brutasha, the dreams,Clint's family, killing off Pietro but it all worked for me. Oh and JARVIS becoming Vision was just brilliant.

Iron Man 3 or Age of Ultron. It's still so amusing to me that some consider those weak films.

I have to go with Iron Man 3. It is often mentioned by fans as being one of Marvel's worst, but I don't think it is anywhere close to being so. It isn't the best Marvel film, but it is one of the best of the second tier and a step up from the second film.

I think most of the MCU is pretty fairly rated, although I would have TFA and TDW as being underrated as well, just not as much as IM3.

I would go with Thor. I think AoU is also underrated, but since we're talking about underrated, people generally rate it higher than Thor (as do I), so I'll go with Thor.

I'm one of them. Can't stand Iron Man 3, the general opinion in most of the threads I lurk in seems to be that Iron Man 2 is the worst of the Iron Man movies, I think 3 is far & away the worst.

Funnily enough I was thinking of doing his very thread recently.

For me it's Thor. I see it get a lot of hate, and it just baffles me. The first movie introduced us to so much and it was certainly the most 'out there' of the pages 1 movies. It gave us the best MCU villain, and introduced us to Hemsworth excellent take on Thor. It also had real emotion and good chemistry between the leads. I watched it recently as part of anMCU marathon. And it still holds up really well also. Plus Thor vs the frost giants was THE best MCU action sequence until The Avengers movie came along.

Age of Ultron, easily. It has plenty of faults but it's still a pretty good movie. Thor comes in a close second. People tend to group it together with The Dark World, which is really unfair (and I don't even think TDW is a bad movie). Iron Man 2 would be third for me, since I'm in the minority that thinks it's better than Iron Man 3.

Are we even sure that's a minority opinion anymore?

I feel like, in general, the Phase 1 films were underrated because it started with Iron Man and nothing truly matched that until Avengers. So TIH, IM2, Thor, and TFA all sorta lived in it's shadow. I voted Thor but honestly it was a close one between those four in particular. I even consider a film like Civil War to be underrated so this was a really tough question to answer.

Iron Man 3 for me, think its a better movie that a lot of people give it credit for. Dunno how people can hate it but think IM2 is better. But yunno, opinions... :hyper:

Cap 1.

I think it's about as perfect a movie as you could make about character named Captain America.

Well, first two thirds, at least.
