What do you think might be the most underrated trilogy or franchise ever in movie history?

That's an interesting question, because I believe that most trilogies are overrated just because they ARE a trilogy -- but to answer your question I would have to say Mad Max.

I'd say as far as the mainstream goes (not cult/internet fans), it would be the Evil Dead trilogy. Also, I'm gonna say the Blade trilogy. I mean, Blade Trinity was a disappointment, but the first two were so incredibly awesome. I'd say, as a whole, it is much better than the Matrix trilogy, which only had one good film. However, I still wouldn't put it on the level of something like Indiana Jones, LOTR, Star Wars OT, and Back to the Future.

The Matrix ... is NOT underrated ... The first is an original modern classic but what followed was very average. A damn shame.

The answer is probably Back To The Future ... Very consistant and enjoyable all the way through.

Back to the Future

^^^But I have no idea why. Such a great trilogy.

Chronicles of Riddick

I wish they would make the rest of the trilogy in the CG used for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Either that, or make them into a game that rises to the level of Escape from Butcher Bay.

Leone Dollars Trilogy (Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly).

Oh and the Matrix trilogy is? Or Kill Bill? :whatever:

Let me explain it to you, when lists of best trilogies are made, most of the time you do not see the Leone movies on there because its just too far back, and most people might not know they're associated.

Hahah, that's funny coming from you. You're not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer; in fact, I'd say you were the spoon.

As far as franchises that never were, Disney was planning on Rocketeer being an Indiana Jones level franchise. Yet we only got one movie.

I blame each and every one of you old enough to see it in theaters that didn't 8 times .

The question was what trilogy/franchise is underrated. Of course The Matrix isn't, but the trilogy is a possible answer, because most hated the last two.

I don't think they match the first, but they were great, in my opinion.

My feelings exactly.

I liked the Transporter movies with Jason Staitum. Liked Mummy 1 and 2 but alot of people hated that. My favorite trilogy that gets not so big love is the Bourne trilogy or soon will be with Bourne Ultamatum.

Probably Back to the Future. As much as I'd like to put the Godfather trilogy on here, each successive film degraded in quality; I'd like to function under the belief that the third one doesn't exist.

The Bourne Series will probably fit on this list after it's released.
