Brad Pitt was originally offered the role of Jack in Titanic.

The role of Neo was created for Will Smith but he turnt it down.

Brad Pitt was meant to star in the fountain but pulled out.

Well you get the jist of the thread please feel free to contribute, and over time I will try and add more.:yay:

Christian Bale hates the character Robin because he didn't get the role in Batman Forever as Robin.

Christian Bale took over for Leonardo DiCaprio after he turned down the role to play Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.

The casting director of Terminator 3 wanted China, the wrestler, to play the T-X.

I've heard Victoria Beckham did a screen test for the first Chralie's Angels movie and it was so bad both Victoria and the studio signed a contract saying that they'll never release it.

- Minority Report originally was meant to be a sequel to Total Recall, with Arnold Schwarzenegger's character returning as the lead.
- Had Batman Triumphant (the announced sequel to Batman & Robin) began production, Jack Nicholson would have reprised his role as the Joker.
- Toshirō Mifune was strongly considered to portray Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. It should be a note that the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi was inspired by Toshirō Mifune's character in The Hidden Fortress.
- Vincent Vegas from Pulp Fiction is actually the brother of Vic Vega/Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs.

I love Alec Guiness, but that would have been really cool.

I always assumed Minority Report was an idea spun by Speilberg hmmmmmmm interesting.

Man, would love to see that footage.

In 1984, when "Back to the Future" was being shot, there was a very real possibility that actor C. Thomas Howell (E.T., Gettysburg) could've played Marty McFly. But according to Bob Gale (who loved Howell's screen test) the chairman of Universal's parent company (MCA) insisted on Eric Stoltz, even going so far as to say Gale and Zemeckis could recast and start over if it didn't work.

That's a new one for me. The whole thing with Stolz, I just find amusing, 'cause I just can't see him as Marty, and I'm thankful that they got Michael J. Fox. But dammit if I wouldn't have LOVED to see what C. Thomas Howell would have done in the role. And it probably would have changed the entire course of his career when you think about it. Coming off of the success of that film, no way he would have done Soul Man. Then again, Universal probably wouldn't have wanted him to do The Hitcher, and that would have been a shame.

Funny, I remember reading that everyone agreed to revise their villain roles, yet Jack decided to back out at the last second after first agreeing to be in it, and the project was scrapped.

Here's a biggie I've never seen discussed:

Alfred Hitchcock planned on doing a Batman film long before 89 (obviously), which would pin Batman up against the Joker, Catwoman, The Penguin and the Riddler (perhaps one more or less, might have included Two-Face and de-cluded the Riddler, can't exactly remember) in a prison setting. Hitchcock insisted on playing Bruce Wayne/Batman, but the studio refused to let him, so it never came to fruition.

I wish I still had the article about it. I'll ask my stepbrother if he does, as he was the one who sent it to me in the first place.

Chris O'Donnell was up for the role of Agent Jay in MiB but was under contract from Warner to do 2 Batman films and he had to film the 'oscar nominated' Batman and Robin.

When Peter Weller decided NOT to return to the role of Robocop Orion was at the time of running out of money (the reason why part 3 came out in 93 even though it was filmed in 91). they did not have enough money to build an entire new suit. so they cast an actor who was the same height, and build, to play Robo, and that is how Robert John Burke got the role, and he even had martial arts training as Peter Weller did.

I remember reading that Robert De Niro was almost cast as Dr. Otto Octavious in Spider-Man 2 before the role was handed to Alfred Molina.

Robin was in the original Draft of Batman 89, to be played by Marlan Wayens (sp?).

That was actually Orson Welles, and it was apparently a hoax: http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=Orson Welles' Batman
Which sucks, cause it would have been awesome :(

Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin Look-A-Like contest in Monte Carlo... And came third.

Sean Conory was offered both LOTR"s Gandalf and The Matrix's Morpheous but claim he did'nt understand either of the Plots.

Ah yes thats right, I thought it was one of the two, shame it might be a hoax; didn't know that :csad:

But who knows, imagine if it was true and its written about in that biography.

Heh sorry to break it to you.
But yeah, how awesome would that have been?

Well, I guess everyone knows this, but Tom Selleck could have been Indiana Jones :O

I heard it was first meant for Johnny depp, but at the time WB thought he didn't have enough star power and wanted keanu reeves :funny:
