Well, this is my second computer problem in two days- sorry.

I may as well start from the beginning...
My computer never used to play avi file types, but once i realised it was a codec problem i downloaded 'AVICodecPackPlus-22', and all my AVI files worked - great. Then a few days after I began to notice some of the AVI's I were downloading didnt work. Naturally, I'd assumed i'd just downloaded some dodgy files, so I deleted them, but one of them I didnt. Then I opened it up, and it worked....However, it isnt working now. It's gone back to how it used to be. I can hear sound, but only see a still image.
It's strange because some of my avis work perfectly, but some act like that one.

Then, with the ones that worked I decided to import them into windows movie maker and do a bit of editing. The only problem is, some of them went green....

The problem here, is sometimes it works fine, and just the little picture is green, but now and again I cant play my entire video because the big preview screen in the top right just shows green!
I tried to figure out if it was a move maker problemo, or an avi problem by saving the movie onto my computer. I then played it through media player, and its acting the way the troublesome avi's did...by not working. I can hear the sound, but the picture is just a still of the first frame.

Can someone help me? I googled my problem and it seems no one else has had this trouble! Oh yeah, I uninstalled my codec package, and installed the full K-Lite one, and it made no difference. :csad:

It's been having bugs like that for me all the time. It gets worse everytime. It's gotten to a point where I can only use WMVs and WAVs. Even then the program crashes every other time I use the upper window. Ctrl+S became my next best friend with this discovery. Try working with Premiere. They have it free over at piratebay

Hey, thanks for the reply. Hmmm, I was sort of after a solution rather than a replacement, but Ill maybe check that software out should all else fail :)

Be warned, if you want to get Premiere Pro 2 or 3, they are VERY powerful and you should probably have 1 GB of RAM and a Dual Core Processor if you want them to run smoothly.

Ah, okay. I have that much space, but not a dual core processor :s

Arrrrrrg, Im really peeved now because I just accidentally deleted half my vid, which took me quite a while because it kept going green.

Well, never mind. Its not like it was working anyway, lol

Space? 1GB of Ram is the memory not the space on your harddrive

Windows movie marker does suck tho get Adobe Premire pro :D

So no one knows whats going on with it then? :(
I kinda like WMM because it's nice and simple, so I'd quite like it to be up and running again...

Do you have the proper divx codecs from the divx site?

I downloaded a set of avi codec's. It was 'the' divx codecs...
Hmm, Ill try downloading those then

Here's my latest video done in Movie Maker and I had the same problems. This is blind editing.

You make it sound like there's things that do cost money over there.

wow, thats quite good, especially considering your problems.

I seem to have fixed the green problem by installing the K-lite codec pack, but now its made MM unbelievably slow, and it keeps crashing :csad:
