MoviePass, Sinemia, A-List & Beyond - Subscription Theatergoing

Changes are coming. Essentially:

  • Any movie over 1000 screens will not be supported by MoviePass in the first 2 weeks.
  • Price is going up to $15 a month.
  • Peak Pricing will continue to be refined.
Nope. I bought the damn thing so I could see movies opening weekend.

That's gonna cut out a ton of movies. Basically any bigger movie.

I mean, you just need to take a look at their financials to see that the writing was on the wall.

Almost every movie opens to over 1000 screens. This means you will have to wait 2 weeks to see basically any new movie with your MoviePass. On some things like The Meg, I can wait. But movies I care about I am not waiting 2 weeks.

That's the goal. Making you pay out of pocket for one's you can't wait two weeks to see

Well, regardless of how this goes down, I’ve seen $700+ worth of movies over the last 8 months for a grand total of $80, so I have no regrets. It was great while it lasted.

Now excuse me while I run into the warm and inviting arms of AMC A-List (which we probably wouldn’t even have if it weren’t for MoviePass).

That's where I am at. I may keep it around if they stay afloat and wait the 2 weeks for movies I am skeptical on and just pay to see my superhero films and such upon release, LOL

Moviepass pumped and dumped us all. A-List will at least make us breakfast.

I think I still have another 6 months on my Moviepass but I only paid like $70 so if anything ill use it to watch movies twice if I really like the film the first time around since Ill have to pay for it. After that though? I'm out.

Now that my moviepass time is done I hope Regal Cinemas is doing their own version like AMC did. I miss going to Union Square in NYC.

Seeing on Twitter that the "cancel subscription" button isn't working on the app.

Moviepass is also being silent on that and not updated or reported any kind of effort to fix it. I think they are trying to hold onto their subscribers for as long as possible through any means. Strangely coincidental it stopped working just before a mass exodus of users tried to abandon them.

I got real lucky that it worked for me 2 days before my next bill date.

Mine renews on the 7th anyway, so I will ride out this next month (assuming they last).

I think it's time to change the title of this thread...

Actually I got it to work I think you have to select why u want to cancel on the top not where the box is there's like a red link u have to click on and that brings down a drop down box.

Regal were bought by Cineworld who have their own subscription service in the UK and Eastern Europe so it's a matter of when not if.

I had gotten so used to using the thing I forgot how much movie tickets are. I went to go see Christopher Robin last night at a theatre in the Loop and the ****ing ticket was 15.00. A List, here I come. :argh:

So the 2 week limitation is still in place also. I mean, at the current price point of 10 bucks, I still have to see 2 movies to justify it out here...but if I can only see 3 movies a month and I have to wait 2 weeks, close to being a deal breaker. I would accept this more if they lifted that.
