Movies that sharply divide audience into love/hate factions

I wanna say Juno.

It's really a movie that I like and I know that the hype kinda killed it. Besides the pop culture stuff, it's really a sweet and overall harmless movie.

The Fountain
Paranormal Activity/The Blair Witch Project

Good examples for on here:

Spider-Man 3
Terminator: Salvation
Superman Returns

I'd also include:

Pirates of the Carribean sequels
Matrix sequels

I'm indifferent to just about all of those listed. I do want to see Paranormal Activity however. The others are just not on my radar (The Fountain), involve concepts I don't like but don't care enough about to "hate" (Speed Racer, Twilight), or I've seen them and had a neutral "it's okay" feeling about them (Juno, Blair Witch).

I'd say that very few movies are truly polarizing in that way.

The Dark Knight

Sorry, I think many here will disagree. This thread is based on the public consensus. Dark Knight does not count because it's a well liked movie. I just don't think that the hate for this movie is strong enough.

You're gonna have people who will divided up (like Speed Racer) aggressively, but not Dark Knight. It's like putting Iron Man on that list too.

I don't like the Dark Knight, but I wouldn't say I hate it.

I didn't like The Dark Knight as a whole. But I enjoyed Heath, Caine and, Eckhart.

That's fine but The Dark Knight is not a film that is sharply divided amonst movie goers. I mean, I don't like 2001, but I'm not gonna place it here.

Didn't like either, Ang Lee's wasn't my cup o tea and Superman Returns was too goddamn long.

Even then, among the general audience, are they even thought of anymore? (Ang Hulk and Superman Returns)

but I see both films as admirable failures. I see what Lee and Singer were trying to do, but the execution were way off. Otherwise, on a tech level, both films looked good (besides Lee's comic book editing on Hulk)

I think they are..but I also think in time, they will be sadly forgotten. I didn't like them either but they're better Transformers 2, Wolverine or Ghost Rider (the three movies I hated in the past couple of years).

Ghost Rider is literally the worst movie I have ever seen. It had nothing good going for it yet, it still beat out Punisher: Warzone in the BO.

Must be Eva Mendez.
