...that were actually liked/loved by critics.

List them here. Y'know, movies where if you were to judge off the Internet, would shock you to find out they were well received.

Well, going off of Rotten Tomatoes, you'd be shocked to see The Dark Knight Rises having an 88% based on how it's viewed on the internet. It's not bashed or anything, but it surely doesn't have the amount of internet praise (me included) that you'd think warrant an 88%.

Superman Returns and recently American Hustle

Iron Man 3
Avatar was pretty well liked by critics right?

Oooooh, Iron Man 3 is a good one ESPECIALLY around these parts.

I'm not even sure that Avatar is really disliked by the internet. I just think the people who don't like it, REALLY don't like it and feel the need to **** on it whenever the opportunity presents itself.

The first two Raimi Spider-Man films. Thought to be two of the best superhero movies ever by the general public and critics (especially the second film), but they seem to be HATED online.

That may be, but I don't see many people in love with it these days. Which baffles me because, tin-eared dialogue aside, I think Avatar is a damn fine motion picture.

I found myself rooting for the villains more than the heroes, to be honest.
Avatar was the first film I ever went to purely for the visuals. I wasn't interested in the story, but it looked like something that HAD to be seen in theaters.

Funny with some of the movies brought up so far like Avatar, Iron Man 3 and TDKR; I'm a fan of them all.

Guess I'm no good at being an online film geek. :D

Yeah. I agree with you and it is a major problem. It is one thing to cheer for a villain because they are more entertaining (ex. Darth Vader, The Joker), but Avatar has the same problem as films like The Lost World and Troy where the villains are mostly reasonable and the heroes are all *******s who bring their problems upon themselves.

I fail at it too then. None of them were perfect and they all could have done something better but I don't know why they get the hate they do either.

The Dark Knight Rises, Iron Man 3, American Hustle

There has been a downhill shift in perception of Star Trek Into Darkness that unlike some other films I think is totally deserved.

I haven't really seen that. Sure they have be pushed down the totem pole with each new marvel movie as new is automatically better to some, but not really seen "hate"

Spider-man 1 and 2 isn't "hated" on the internet I think... just ignored or pushed aside because it's so corny compared to the Iron Mans and Dark Knights we have now... A pity.

And I would say Star Trek and Star Trek into Darkness

Try visiting the Amazing Spider-Man folder on this forum.

Darkman was one of the first to be panned by some critics but loved the general audience.

Avatar by far.

People bashed the movie constantly online.

Biggest movie success of all time.

After that I realized you can't predict a movies performance based on internet buzz.

Oh, this is about critical successes, my bad.

Avatar still applies but to a lesser degree.

The thing is most agree Avatar was a good film, just not as great as some try to indicate. Even though it was massive in theaters, it did not really cultural hit people like other films of that decade like LOTR or TDK. You ask most people to repeat a one liner or a scene from the film and most just go blank.

It was a good movie but not a memorable one. Though I have hopes for the sequels, I really hope they go above and beyond with that.

Avatar is massively overrated. If that had been made by any other director without the good special effects it would have been panned. The story is a dances with wolves clone. Which is something critics are quick to bash a movie for is a cliche story. The acting was nothing to write home about either. The special effects and 3D and James Camron's name are the only reasons that movie did well.
