Mr. Freeze in Reeves' Batuniverse

BBT thinks Reeves would change his name to Victor Shivel. Can definitely see that.

Freud (as in Sigmund) is pronounced froid, and froid in French (though pronounced differently) means cold. I wonder if that's how they got the idea lol instead of Dr. Froid (Freud), it's Dr. Fries (Freeze)

Mh... I get your idea but I'm French and personally I've never heard "Freud" pronounce in the same way as "Froid"... Also the pun would have now been awful for us ! :funny:

Hence me saying, " froid in French (though pronounced differently) means cold" lol C'EST FWWWAH

Too close to shiver for my liking. I'd rather Reeves give these characters believable names, and have the nicknames be organic, similar to what Nolan did.
Is it pronounced Shive-ull on the show or Shiv-ull? I don’t remember but I can check when I get home

There are literally millions of different name out there, I'm sure Reeves won't have to resort to anything needlessly cringe lol

Art Shivel was the name on the show. I think it was pronounced Shive- ull. I know someone with the last name Fries (pronounced Freeze). It’s not ‘unrealistic’ or cringe, those are pretty normal last names.

It's the part "Freud (as in Sigmund) is pronounced froid" that I wasn't getting. "Freud" is pronounce [fʁød] and "Froid" is [fʁwa]. On paper it look close but phonetically, it's quite a stretch to link the two imo. But it's okay haha, I get the overall idea anyway. :cwink:

I totally agree with your last post, if they want to change the name then it's better to avoid any kind of pun. Otherwise, just keep what it is originally. Maybe they could use a mix of real-life physicists names to create some trivia.

It's only cringe to have a guy who's last name just happens to be a homonym for "freeze" be this guy known for actually working in cryogenics. I could see it maybe working if he had a different name, but was nicknamed "Mr. Freeze" due to his work in cryogenics.

I love how superhero movies make billions of dollars now with cosmic villains and weird **** and people in this forum are still going "Mr. Freeze is not realistic enough for a Batman movie" like this is still 2005 or something.

I hate it too. I’d rather they name him Victor (insert interesting but NORMAL last name). Just change it. Who cares about fans whining.

Gotta have balance lol. I’m glad we’re back to that tbh. I’m tired of the cosmic.

If you're embarrassed by someone having the name Victor Fries, you don't deserve to be a Batman fan.

That's not what it's about. It's about unnecessarily breaking the tone of an otherwise pitch-black serious crime drama with ridiculousness.
