Mr. Terrific, just because....

That's a popular theory these days. A lot of scientists tend to "fill in the gaps," so to speak, with God until empirical data proves how something works.

Excepting of course that whole annoying, missing energy concept most scientists try not to think about.

The Big Bang theory assumes an original concentration of energy. Where did this energy come from? Astronomers sometimes speak of origin from a "quantum mechanical fluctuation within a vacuum." However, an energy source is still needed. Actually, there is no secular origin theory, since every idea is based on preexisting matter or energy.

More over, after centuries of study, there is no true defination as to what energy actually is. It can't be created or destroyed. You can explain the effects of energy, but you cannot explain its origions or why it chooses to work the way it does. It's like trying to explain what love is to an Emperor Penguin.

Not to spin us off course too much, but surely in the DC universe, most scientists realize that there is quite a bit out there that doesn't obey the laws of science.

How did a thread celebrating a great DC superhero devolve into a debate of science vs. religion? Someone post more cool pics of Mr. Terrific, please? This is getting kinda OT.

Sorry, but thats pretty much all the Mr. Terrific pics there is. Oh, wait, I got this one.

Now, if I had a scanner, we'd be in business.

It baffles me how people will accept ANY answer, no matter how complex or how utterly ridiculous for the universe's beginning, EXCEPT God. People want so badly for there not to be a God so that they don't have to answer for their actions or be accountable for anything they do. And they want to think that Humanity is the ultimate source of authority in the universe. I got news for ya guys, you're in for a rude awakening.

I believe in God, I just don't think we are as important as we like to think we are to God.

I believe in God, but not in the Bible, nor do I believe God is as manipulative, arrogant, and condescending as everyone makes him out to be...

Some people simply acknowledge that they don't know what happened during the creation of the universe. I'm sure there are a lot of scientists out there who know that the Big Bang doesn't follow certain scientific laws but just assume that there are other, undiscovered sciences and laws that cover it. Maybe it's beyond our capacity to understand, since obviously the universe doesn't exist simply for human beings to understand it. But just because there are things that people don't know, doesn't mean that they automatically MUST assume the existence of a God.

Hmm, I like the concept of the character but something in his uniform needs tweaking.
If I got my hands on him, I´d get rid of the jacket or update it somewhat.
Too 90´s.

A thing that has always bugged the hell outta me in black superheroes is that aside from Icon and maybe Storm, most aren´t usually very high in the food chain in terms of power.
They´re either streetlevelers with a gimmick or base their powers on technology.

Where are the equivalents of Superman and Wonder Woman, REAL demigods instead of guys with toys?

Woot! Thanks! I like how that page ends. Geoff Johns has a great sense of humor. Can you scan more shots for us, Trop?

Yeah, that jacket is looking pretty tacky these days. If I could draw worth a damn I'd post some ideas for a few updates to it. Anyone else feel free to, though.

Yeah, thats pretty much the main problem with black Superheros. Sure, people can respect a hero without powers. I mean, look at Batman. But there should at least be a few that have that massive power that seems to be lacking in black heros. There was Icon, the current Firestorm is maybe one of the most powerful heros period. But you look at everybody else and they're all pretty much moderate power to street level.

You know what pisses me off to no end? The demeaning way that purple superheros have been portrayed in comics. I mean how many purple heroes can you think of just off the top of your head???

That's what I thought. I'm tired of this poop.

I'm looking for worthy stuff to put up, I'm going through my comics right now. I haven't found the one where he fights Kobra. THAT I will DEFINITELY scan. Interesting stuff I've found:

-He's got a GOLD medal from Olympic Decathlon.
-Dr. Midnite says that he doesn't know how Mr.T has all the degrees he has when it was hard enough for Midnite to get just his medical Phd. Coming from a guy who got his degree at 19 years old is impressive.
-Common quote I've found regarding Mr.T: "He's mastered almost every skill in the world, every sport, every subject; except faith."
-His wife was pregnant when she was killed.
-Jakeem doesn't like Terrific's costume. I found this particularly relevant since people in this thread have been complaining about it. Personally, I like it.
-Terrific's mask (which is adhered by nanites to his face) is more than just some funky face paint; it actually protects the area it covers well enough that getting sprayed with mace didn't faze him.

You're a MORON.

Digging up all the Just Because / Just Becuase threads in search of Psyloc,.. Just Becuase.

Quoted for agreement.
I mean, I LOVE Cyborg, he was one of my youth idols back in the Wolfman/Perez day but as cool as the character was, he was just a man with prosthetic limbs.

And there is no religious origin theory, because religion isn't theory, it's superstition and make-believe.

... Some people would say this is extra specially pointless, given it's a response to a year+ old post.

But some people aren't me.

I love the way he hangs onto his Atheism in IC? His explinations for Angels and ghost and all sorts of evidance of the afterlife sound so much like a Fundamentalist trying to discount evidence for the evolution.
