The Amazing Spider-Man Music To Web-Swing By

The coldplay song in TASM is an old one actually, like 05 old. I would have liked Marc to bring his fantastic music sensibilites from 500 to TASM maybe bring it some mood and style befitting that of a new york teenage love story than trashy nu metal for the spotty mountain dew guzzling fanboy.

The thing with songs like these featured in 500 Days is that they date the movie instantly. And I'm fine with it in smaller movies, but I'd have a problem with it in TASM. SM2 and B89 have already suffered from it.

SM2 has cool songs, so I don't feel the music aging it
Batman 89 isn't aged by the face cringing songs, those could be ignored, the cartoony effects does something else

Listen to "The War Inside" by Switchfoot. That song is a perfect fit for this movie.

The Prince music certainly helped the aging of B89, I think.

And whether a song is cool or not has nothing to do with dating a movie. I like several songs used in SM2, and it's only an 8 year old movie, but none of them are classics (like Black Sabbath or Deep Purple songs for example, which can be used without dating a movie). SM2 will be dated at some point.

I think a film can age well depending on how good the music is, a lot of 80's films have 80's hairstyles and moods and music, but it sets the right tone and mood for said film. Something like scarface or terminator, as opposed to something like Daredevil which was chock full of rubbish nothing nu metal bands and found itself aged a mere 5 years after it's release.

If you have the right music, to play along with the right tone of the film, it doesn't stop a film getting aged but it certainly still looks good as a window to the time it was made.

Although thank the lord (Nolan?) that BB and TDK don't use much commercial music.

I just don't think good music alone qualifies as non-dating.

And I think both T1 and Scarface are quite dated.
