I'm enjoying reading this thread and thought I would chime in.
I havent bought anything in a few years. But people still buy things for my collection. I was known in these parts for a while to have the most diverse collection, not the biggest. Since I have two little ones now, everything I have is in storage. I refer to the collection as my sons college fund. I will run down some items I am proud of in my collection all were bought in a store or a gift, not at auctions or collectable stores.

(cant remember the title comic trade magazine) Batman 40th anniversary. Features a story with Joe Dante regarding a Batman movie.
Batmobile
Batman Pez (actually my current Pez collection started with this one. Now it has grown)
1980 (probably the largest portion of my collection is from this decade)
Batman ashtray.
Super Powers Lunch Box
Death in the Family (1st edition compilation); I sold by individuals several months after they were released for $250.
Dark Knight Returns (1st Edition, very poor condition); I had an A-Hole roommate that kept tossing it in the garbage whenever he was cleaning up and high. I tried explaining to him that this would be worth a mint one day. A week later I would rescue it again. Finally I locked it away.
Killing Joke (1st Edition)
Batman Year One (1st)
Batman Year Two (1st)
Detective Comics 50th anniversary written by Sam Hamm
Batman & Me by Bob Kane (autographed)
Batman (1989) original movie script (autographed by Sam Hamm)
Too many Batman 1989 collectables and toys to mention.
One surviving pair of Batman Chuck Taylor Converse out of five. I used to wear these whenI did comedy.
Various Action figures
Batmobile from 89
Heroes for Hope; a comic for relief in Africa featuring Superman & Batman. And my memory may be failing me on the title. Because I had the companion one by Marvel featuring the X-Men (same A-hole roommate threw it out as well). These came out during Band Aid, USA for Africa, & Live Aid.
Both Greatest Batman & Joker stories ever told. I ended up with 2 copies of the Batman.
Arkham Asylum (my favorite); I actually wrote a quote inside my prop box I used for my part in Cuckoo's Nest (theater).
Son of the Demon
The comics from this era were just wonderful. Some really good cover art. Im especially fond of the ones from 1988-1989. A lot of rich orange, reds, and purples. For some reason the cover artists preferred showcasing Batman at dusk or dawn. So the contrast really pops out. In addition to the color choices everyone had his cape drawn much like an entity. Im geeking out just thinking of them.
1990 (I stopped buying mid 90s for the most part. But family members still buy things for me)
Batman Returns collectables and toys from Taco Bell.
Batman Cereal Box
Batman Animated Series Gumball Machine
Batmobile from Returns
Batman Forever glass coffee mugs from McDonalds
Bruce Wayne: Agent of Shield; I have most of the Amalgam series including Wolverine as Batman.
Too many Batman action figures to mention from returns, forever, animated series, & alternate universe.
Batman Forever batmobile
Dark Knight Returns
2000
Mainly a couple Batman art books given to me by my mother-in-law.
Thats it. I have close to four boxes of comics from the 60s to the 90s. I scaled back prior to getting married on the comics, selling a large collection to a dealer/collector. I kept ones that I either had sentimental attachment to or felt that the value would increase in another 20-30 years.
My collection was not the largest at its peak in 1989, but fairly big when I attended a Con in Charlotte. But it was diverse because of the time span and the fact that I wasnt fond of any one medium of Batman. One gentleman (well call him Riddler) had a larger collection, but his focused on just the TV Show. Another gentleman (well call him Bat-Man) had a collection closer to my size but his was mixed with too many bootleg items, not that Im being a snob. Bat-Mans showpiece was a costume he special ordered prior to the movies release. We three were the big collectors at the con and the local experts on Batman. Bat-Man was a DJ at a local nightclub. He had worn his costume the night before at a Batman party at his club, complete with ninjas. I had dressed as the Joker for the premier of the movie two days prior and was featured on local TV. I have been referred to as a young Jack Nicholson on too many occasions. They had pictures of us dressed up at the party and premier and displayed them at the con. Bat-Man and I hit it off and wished we had gotten together for the party at his club. He and I also showed some Batman artwork for our display. The Riddler offered to buy a self portrait of myself as the Joker and I was talked into turning it down by Bat-Man. Now I could kick myself because I dont know what happened to the portrait and Riddler offered me $500 for it at the time.
