I couldn't fond a specific place to put this because it's not a fanfiction by ideas germinating inside my head based upon an original idea I've formed in my head and original characters I've created based more or less upon my own experiences and fears.
I've been thinking that I want to write a story that's a period piece that takes place at the tail end of the Roaring 20's and right when the Great Depression begins. What I've come up with is a typical tale of rich man meets a poor girl working as a waitress in a nightclub. They fall in love but family, mostly the matriarch, objects to her vehemently not because her personality is offensive but because she thinks that the girl lacks the status, refinement and money to be considered worthy of her son's affections. I was thinking the end of the story could be the Depression and the family loses their fortune but the main male character still has what matters most which is the love and support of the girl.
That's my idea in a nutshell, now you can help me out if you'd like by linking me to great resources about the Roaring 20's and the great Depression so I can get my timeline straight.
