Saying that taking in an unemployed person is a bad idea because it would be a financial burden on my parents is understandable but non-applicable in this case seeing as both my parents have a source of income, but it's a valid point notwithstanding.

Just because your parents have a source of income doesn't mean it's their job to take care of two 20-something man-children who use their ostensible autism as an excuse to avoid ever getting a job and call their family "abusive" for expecting them to contribute something.

Saying that this would be a bad idea because Kelvin may be a serial killer or something based on gumption rather than fact, is not a valid point. If you assume everyone is a serial killer then not only do you throw logic out with the bathwater, but you pretty much are saying that you would never pick up a hitchhiker for the same reason, which is hypocritical in and of itself but that's neither here nor there.

There is still a distinct possibility that, if Kelvin doesn't agree to my TOS I will say "Sorry, Kelvin. I would like to help you in your time of need but I need your cooperation and your word that you'll agree to a few conditions before you may live here" I am not a doormat, Kelvin is not going to be a king in my household, he will be a guest who will be taken care of and have his wants fulfilled but there will be conditions that he has to abide by. That, again, is up to him to decide.

If Kelvin is being this cagey in "negotiations" when he's supposedly living in a park pavilion, clearly he is not in the desperate situation he would have everyone believe.

If he was genuinely in an abusive situation and facing homelessness, he would jump at the chance to escape, without demanding high-speed internet and an expensive TV.

Frankly I am skeptical in the extreme that any of this is real, that Kelvin exists and is not a sock puppet of CardinalRed, that is not elaborate trolling, and that CardinalRed has autism.

I have heavy doubts about all of the above.

And if it is real, than Kelvin is probably a paranoid schizophrenic with delusions of persecution, as well as a majorly inflated sense of entitlement if he "demands" that people on an internet forum pay for his apartment just because he doesn't want to live with his so-called "abusive" uncle anymore for wanting him to get a job.

Expecting a 26-year-old to get a job is not "abusive". And autism is not an excuse unless you are on Rain Man levels, which judging by his internet posts, Kelvin is obviously not.

Also, if CardinalRed actually gives credence to Kelvin's belief that he is being hounded by 14-foot tall female supremacists from the future who want to enslave autistic men with dog collars, then he is either just as crazy as Kelvin, or a complete and utter, incredibly naive fool.

It is not your parents' job to take care of one twenty-something man-child, let alone you bringing a second one under their roof who is so self-important that he demands high-speed internet and an expensive television as a condition of his accepting the offer, despite supposedly being in an "abusive" household and facing homelessness.

You are supremely lucky I have not just slapped you with an infraction for trolling with every single post you have made, which would have gotten you up to 10 and a permanent ban very, very quickly.

I thank everyone for sincere responses and feedback, however critical, and I am weighing in your opinions before I reach my own decisions but I have to take a lot of things into account....as a victim of trolling myself, I would never stoop so low as to make a story like this up, because I see no distinction between 'trolling' and 'cyberbullying'...the difference is a matter of semantics, and cyberbullies are some of the worst people there are, and I have no respect for anything who tries to defend the actions of trolls as being "harmless pranks".

I don't know, in particular, what most of you want from me. Even if I were to tell him that he can't stay with me, not that I would say that, but with my parents on board with the plan now...the whole thing is effectively out of my hands, and why don't we all actually consider the possibility that this could be the change needed for the beginning of his success story, or my own success for helping someone currently without residence become a functioning person once again. Be the change that you yourself would want to see in others. Sure there are risks involved but that holds true for every endeavor you take in life.
