Hmmm My grandfather hung himself in 1954 when my mother was 9 and my other grandfather died of a heart attack in 1969...I was born in 1976. Least you met your grandfather(s).

I'm not going to give you the standard, "Oh, damn, sorry man. That sucks." I think it's good that you're looking at the positive aspect of his (hopefully) quick passing in lieu of what was potentially waiting for him down the road.

I will throw one cliche at you, though: celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. I guarantee that's how he would have wanted it....not that I knew him, or anything.

This is the second relative I've lost this year. He had gotten some form or other of cancer, and the docs pretty well said that was it. Well, apparently he didn't want to linger, so it was an apparent heart attack this afternoon..and he was gone.

All I can say I'm thankful it was fast, and in the end didn't the cancer didn't ravage him painfully. Say a prayer for my fam and I folks, I thank you.
