I see Peter and MJ engaged for a while with a wedding coming up soon. I think they should be living together in MJ's place as well.

Peter is about to graduate from college and is an assistant for Doc Connors and his research on limb regeneration. As stated elsewhere, perhaps his interest in the symbiote sparked a study in biology and since Peter brought the sample he is the natural choice for an assistant...almost a thank-you for Peter to keep him involved.

Now that Peter has a wedding on the horizon he's thinking longterm about family and that is where we need to go for the 4th flick. Peter's involvement in this research with Connors could increase his chances in choosing a graduate program and help his career in science (remember those rough grades in #2).

While Peter has found a decent balance in his duties as a student/spidey, being a superhero does still get in the way now and again. Connor's transformation into the lizard has to be partly Peter's fault as a result of putting crime-fighting ahead of his studies.

After his first battle with the Lizard, Peter confides in MJ in that he's looking ahead in life and getting nervous. He can't put MJ first (as Aunt May instructed in #3) as spidey will always get in the way of a family. Moreover, he's guilt ridden in his role in Connors becoming the Lizard and what it's done to HIS family. MJ is true to her comic identity this time around and is Peter's rock. She accepts the fact that Peter can't always be there and reminds him of his importance to the city. Still, Peter struggles...

Then Aunt May falls ill...something that nobody could have prevented like a heart attack or stroke. It isn't sure if she'll live or die and while Peter should be with his family he still has this Lizard running around town that HE is partly responsible for. For the greater good, he has to leave his family to stop the Lizard and it's very hard for him. Afterall, he never knew his parents. His uncle is dead and he could have stopped it. Now the only mother he's ever known may die and while he can't even be there with her.

Kraven should be a part of it as well, though as a side-plot IMHO.

Any thoughts? I'd love to see MJ begin to thrive in a modeling career and it'd be cool to see Peter involved with the photo book of Spider-man (titled "Webs, ala the late 80's David Michelinie days). It could mean nice $ for Parker, but the photos are owned by the Bugle and Jameson. He takes the lion's share of the profits and Peter gets shafted on the back end...typical Parker luck.

Also, I think it'd be cool if we had another freelancer at the bugle with an anti-spidey agenda. However, rather than trying to paint Spidey as an out-and-out bad guy (ala Eddie Brock in SM3), this newbie simply takes photos of crimes Spidey failed to foil/prevent and JJ spins the articles in that direction. This also hangs over Peter while he's struggling with the other stress in his life.

The new photographer is none other than Nick Katzenberg from the late 80's books. I think Artie Lange from the Howard Stern show would be perfectly cast :)

With the news lately, it seems like this plot may still be a good idea...

Anyone have any input on how to get Kraven into all this? Maybe introduce him midway through and have him run into SM5?

I still LOVE the idea of casting Artie Lange as Nick Katzenberg. I think the character would be a great foil for Peter so we can get some of the sleeziness Topher Grace lacked as Eddie Brock.

I don't. Peter and MJ's relationship is in trouble, especially after Spider-Man 3 ended. People want them to "get it over with" and get engaged, but Peter hit MJ in the last movie, she lied to him about falling in love with someone else and didn't tell him the truth about the lie even after Harry Osborn died, and they both kissed other people throughout the course of the movie. The way the film ended is up in the air for me, like they could of just forgiven each other and maybe tried to work it out for Harry's sake, or Peter just wanted to apologize for all the crap he did and she forgave him with a dance. They didn't even kiss.

Now, MJ IS Peter's rock and they should get married, but I think they both have a lot of growing up to do as characters. They should break up at the beginning of Spider-Man 4, get back together at the end of Spider-Man 5, and marry/engage/"Peter I'm pregnant" at the end of Spider-Man 6. But until then, let Pete date Gwen (until she dies) and let MJ build a career.

But Pete should move into a nicer apartment with money from "Webs", great idea by the way, and his roommate should be Randy Robertson. The cast could use more black characters, and Pete needs a male friend his age after Harry died.

I'll get to the other stuff later, you got some good ideas, though. Nothing you say can't be done with Peter and MJ broken up for a while.

I would like Peter to graduate very early in the film, and then take a job as Conner's assistant or teaching aide, but because he's a science nerd, not so much because he's thinking about a long-term career to support his family. I disagree that Curt's transformation into the Lizard should be partly Peter's fault. I think it should be Curt's. Pete has enough guilt to deal with, and I would rather he miss Uncle Ben, worry over Aunt May's failing health, or later mourn Gwen Stacy then blame himself for Curtis Conners as the Lizard.

Conners should take his own formula out of desperation. He's a smart guy, but he needs to slip up. His marriage is on the rocks, he spends way too much time in the lab and his home life suffers. On top of that, fellow professor Adrian Toomes has been brought on board and is competing with him for a huge science grant. Curt's study of the regenerative capabilities of the symbiote and his own knowledge of reptiles lead him to create his famous formula, which he has a pretty good chance of winning a lot of money with, but he still feels inadequate whenever Toomes comes around, praying on the sensitivity of Conner's home life. Other teachers call him a vulture. So to try to win without any doubt he tests the serum on himself, while his trusted TA and friend, Peter Parker, is there. Pete begs him to reconsider testing on himself (he's thinking of Norman Osborn and how he must've taken his formula out of desperation), but Conners does it anyway. Instant Lizard.

My S-M4 plot: Nick Fury comes into town and shoots Spidey dead because real men don't cry like *****es...or dance like *****es.

Aunt May should get sick and need an emergency blood transfusion from her only living relative, Peter. Peter goes through with it to try to help any way he can, but he worries that his spider-blood might make it worse, and it does. So while she's sick, he decides the only person that can save her might be Doctor Conners, but he's missing as the Lizard. So Pete goes to work in the lab non-stop with no sleep, until he finds the antidote and tracks down the Lizard and saves him. After Conners regains his humanity, he thanks Peter/Spider-Man for saving his life. Pete (who had no choice in revealing his secret identity) asks for Conners help analyzing May's blood for help. He does so without question and becomes Pete's confidant. Later in the movie, Conners forgives Peter for not grading some papers because he was busy being Spider-Man, now that Conners knows his secret, he's a little easier on him.

We have threads dedicated to what we'd like to see as a plot line. Thanks.
