My therory on "The Cure"....

What's the problem?

MAGNETO only manifested an infinitesimal percentage of his former power. I think you can call it just... a small, genetical "reminder", like an echo.
But I don't think his powers will return.

It was just a nice, "poetic" touch to round out the movie.

One could draw a parrallel between Magneto's strugle to regain his full strength to that of a man in a wheel chair not giving up on the hope of walking again. This movie showed us the human side of the character in the way the opening scene of the first movie did.

To the people arguing that because the doctors said it was "permanent" that that means "permanent", well let me ask you this; how many times have doctors been wrong before? Especially when it comes to experimental procedures? Because as we were told, Angel was the first mutant they were going to inject it with.

Though it could be interpreted another way, I always percieved the line when Rao asks Warrens father "Are you sure he should be the first?" or something along those lines, that she was asking because he would literally be the first one to recieve and they aren't 100% sure of how it would work. Then again, duing the procedure she does say to Warren "The transformation can be a little jarry (did she say jarry? i have no idea what she said)", implying that they had indeed used it before and noted its affects upon taking it.
But then, if that is the case, then why was she bothered about Angel taking it the first out of the "public" in the first place? He could be first, second, one hundreth, it wouldn't make any difference.

I for one think that the cure all really depends on the strength of ones mutant X gene. The same when it comes to cancer cells or diseases. Two people can be "cured" of cancer. One may live a healthy life, the other it may come back. It's all chance I suppose.

Leechs powers aren't meant to work permanently, only while you are in his field. I think the cure will either wear off or it will just stay when it is convientent for writers. Magneto wil get his powers back because writers want to use his powers. Maybe Mystique. And Rogue is the one who wants the cure so maybe it will stay with her. Or hopefully it will reject Rogue and she finally become a badass in the movies.
^EXACTLY! Not too complicated when broken down like that.

Was it just me or did Rogue get shafted in X3?
She never once used her powers and only had like 3 speaking parts.

I really hope if there is a X4 that it will focus on her finding out that the cure wasn't permanent and getting her strength and flying powers(it can work) and dealing with them.

That would be a great story arch!

Actually, Rogue used her powers only once, in The Danger Room. She is next to Colossus, when he is "metalized"???, he touched her forehead, and she too becomes like him. It's only for like 2 seconds, though. I guess he did'nt want her to be hurt by exploding/ falling debris....but most likely everyone's power will eventually return.

We all know that is the fluids secreted by the X Factor between the Brain and the cerebelum of a mutant what causes them to have mutant powers (Remeber in X2 with Jason Striker, how Striker would use X Factor Fluid from his son to control , Lady Deathstrike, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops?). Thats how they made the cure, they use Leeche's X Factor Fluid to create this "antibody" that goes straight to the DNA of a mutant and changes it into Human DNA, I put quote on quote antibody because the principles used for this "cure" are the ones of a virus, lets be specific and mention the HIV virus which changes the human DNA in RNA which causes the human body to stop creating white cells in the blood (antibodies), just like this "cure" causes the X Factor to Stop producing X Factor Fluid...BUT it doesnt kill the X Factor, so eventually the X Factor as an organ that it is, will start producing X Fluid once the mutant inmune system catches up. Now this is not an atibody, they call it antibody in the movie because of the human point of view, but the "cure" is actually a virus genetically enginered from Leeche's X Factor fluid, so the "cure" condition is actually a mutant decease for what they would need a mutant vaccine for this and thats why the mutant inmune system cannot avoid this "antibody" rather called Mutant Virus. It's all behind the X Factor Fluids, thats the reason why they still need the boy to create it, they cant replicate X Factor Fluid. Seems like the only one to understand this was Storm:

"There is nothing to cure,

nothing's wrong with any of us

for that matter"

Mutations is just that, mutation, not a decease

OKAY...don't know if this has been touched before, but what if the so called "cure" is only temporary? What about the last scene of a powerless Magneto w/ the chess board? Did anyone else notice him wave his hand over the chess board and a playing piece moved? Or was I seeing things? Remember the scenes with Beast, Kitty and Juggernaut in the same room w/ the mutant kid and their mutations were momentarily 'shut off'? What if the cure wears off? Interesting theory...

yeah i'm hoping in X4 they recap on some of the events that happened in X Men the Official Game and Stryker is still alive along with Trask and team up to build up an army of Sentinels and bring back Master Mold. and the whole time the cure was a way to distract the X Men as well as the rest of the mutants and the Sentinels come when they least expect it.

I think Magneto just accidentally kicked the table, ok, so now problem solved, damn I'm a genious

ha.. I was going to joke about that too.

I hope they don't say the Cure was temporary, because that would just be a really pathetic way out. The way I looked at the scene was that he was so powerful that he still has the tiniest bit left. We know Magneto's views on humans, it was challenged when Mystique was cured, but he stood by those values. He's very proud of his gifts. Having him stripped of his power is a pretty powerful thing- a loss of all his pride and identity, and for the first time Magneto just being an old man. If he has the slightest bit left, I wouldn't mind him just having that little bit of power left but now cherishing it so much that he would never risk losing it again.
