N.W.A. Straight Outta Compton

I am looking forward to this movie, but it is a damn shame those two are getting ignored.

Don't be too sure about that, Aldis (Ren) and Neil (Yella) may have bigger parts in the movie than you think.

Doesnt change the fact they are basically nobodies in a lot of the marketing

Im surprised Cube hasnt spoken out about it

what?

what does any of what i said have to do with waiting until the movie comes out?

The studio has to market this film to the general audience. The general audience KNOWS who Dr. Dre is. The general audience KNOWS who Ice Cube is. The general audience KNOWS who Eazy-E is. Dre and Cube are the ones who had substantial mainstream success beyond the group, and have had a lasting impact for a majority of the people who will potentially end up seeing this film. I'm not gonna fault the marketing team for leaving out two members that only hip-hop fans really know anything about. Sorry.

I agree with this, but if they leave out Ren and Yella from having a bigger impact on the film then that is some bs. Ren was the best lyricist of the group when it came to writing music.

Obvious Eazy Dre and e are known the most so of course they emphasize them more. But what theyre doing goes beyond emphasizing them. It looks like they almost cut Ren and Yella out.

However, they haven't even shown the other two speaking. They could've at least show that they weren't just mutes like that do in the trailers.

But if theyre in the film proper then I wont mind much. But if, like Black Narcissus said they trivialize them, especially Ren who wrote a lot of Eazy's rhymes, then that's crap

The film will also get to know more about Ice Cube the rapper. While I do think that the General Audience knows that he's a rapper, very few have heard his music.

Dude has multiple platinum albums. Maybe teenagers don't know his music but I don't know if teenagers are interested in this movie anyway.

Teens would rather get into a jealous rage over anyone who bashes One Direction rather than watch this movie....well at least the teen girls anyways.

How can we forget this?

Heh, they didn't even try to find an actor who looks somewhat like Ren, but he probably doesn't mind since the imaginary him will be tall, lol.

Also, current day Ren looks like he could play Nate Dogg in a biopic heh heh.

Straight Outta Compton

Straight Outta Compton isn’t out until Aug. 14, but that doesn’t deter excitement. Some of N.W.A—Ice Cube, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and maybe Dr. Dre—will band together for a reunion performance before the BET Awards on June 27. Naturally, each of the five original members will be in the film. And we know versions Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and Suge Knight will pop up in the film, too.
We also now know that the era’s preeminent West Coast rapper, Tupac, will be in Straight Outta Compton, EW has confirmed. Ice Cube posted an Instagram photo on what would have been the late rapper’s 44th birthday Tuesday, mentioning “the Tupac scene” was being filmed that day. But it was vague regarding if someone playing the rapper would actually appear:

A Universal spokesperson tells EW that Shakur will be played by actor Marcc Rose, who shares a very strong physical resemblance to Makaveli, as seen below.

The extent of Rose’s involvement in Straight Outta Compton is currently unknown. However, despite rumors, he is not currently attached to Carl Franklin’s Tupac biopic, his rep tells EW.

:hehe: Saw this on bookface (minus the censorship)

Why should teen girls watch this movie when it's obvious that they are not the target demographic for this film? The movie/premise seems like it will be great, but I got disgusted when the first trailer I saw were women being nothing more than all booty and no substance. Lately, it has been proven if a movie ignores the female movie going audience, it won't do as great as a movie with a strong female character/cast.

I am really itching to see this thing.
