NBA Thread 2018/2019: That’s a Rap

Who wins?

Every NBA season makes me wish this iconic theme came back during TV broadcasts:

They better make sure Draymond Green gets the same amount of gems as Steph Curry or someone will be kicked in the nuts!

Think I put this in the other thread yesterday, any UK NBA fans can now watch live games on Sky Sports. They've won the rights for the next 4 years.

Day 1 the Celtics look good. Big rivalry game both teams wanted to win. Simmons and Embiid both had good games. Kyrie had a bad game.

Celtics win easy. Kyrie was right to leave Cleveland. The Cavs could never build a team that could win a big game like that with him playing that badly.

I don't want to be too reactionary, but there is a legit chance the Rockets defense now sucks.

Eh, any team COULD. The Cavs just are not run by people who are good enough at their jobs to do so.

Well the big rookie battle last night was interesting. Luka looked like the best Mav on the court in the 1st half. Then he looked like he wore down in the 2nd half. Actually shot an air ball 3 at the end. Ayton looked really good and seems like he'll get more RotY votes based on that one game.

Free League Pass preview this week, if you like that sort of thing.

Lakers/Blazers pretty crazy start. One sequence was a massive Lebron dunk...followed by Lillard dunk....followed by another massive Lebron dunk. The place went nuts.

First Laker to score....Rondo.
First Lebron Laker stat: assist

Dicey officiating in the Lakers favor on a couple of calls. But they did a makeup call right after the 2nd one.

And the Blazers' savior for that game was Nik "Sauce Castillo" Stauskas, who scored 24 points in 27 minutes of play.

Raptors look good already. Kawhi is on top of his game. The only negative is he didn't laugh in his post game interview.

-------------------

Crazy game between Warriors and Jazz. Last second tip-in at the buzzer gave GS the win. Jazz couldn't get points in crunch time.

------------------

Sixers bounced back after looking bad in the first game. Could be the China trip. Mavs looked bad in their first game too.

-------------------

Kevin Love back to putting up big numbers on a bad team.

Another rough outing for the Lakers as a scrum erupted after a hard foul on Harden by Ingram and then Rondo and Paul exchanged punches.

Paul got 2-game suspension...Rondo-3 & Ingram-4.

Personally Paul should have gotten 3 games & Rondo-2. Paul put his fingers in Rondo's face, than proceeded to push his head back. Rondo at the time, did nothing until Paul escalated physical contact. Rondo imo reacted to defend himself after Paul's actions. Rondo was not escalating anything...Paul did.

I suspect Rondo got more time because of history...which is unfair in this instance, solely between the incident between him & Paul. If Rondo initiated the incident, than one take in account of his history of perpetrating situations. However, in this case Rondo perpetrated nothing...history does not account when you defending your personal space. He should have gotten less time than Paul.

C. Paul while incredibly talented has been a prick to his Teammates but most of the greats are but you need hardware on your fingers to keep doing it or not people will tell you to F off
Lebron but C. Paul is LBJ best pal even godfather to one of his kids if i'm not mistaken I wonder if Lebron will have Rondo shipped out for that

Steph Curry went for 23 in the first quarter, and has 51 in the first 3 quarters tonight against the Wizards.

Ugh....Mavs certainly know how to suck the life out of a fan.

Probably their worst loss ever. Lost a 26 point lead to....the Hawks. The team that gets their #1 pick next summer.

They did lose a 30 point lead to the Lakers in 2002. But that was with Shaq, Kobe, and Phil. No excuse for this one.

Side note: Luka not getting any calls. They actually called him for the "jump stop" that everyone has been using since the 90s. Never saw Patrick Ewing get called for that once.

I'm starting to think that the league has it in for the Mavs and Cuban

I figured that out in the 2006 Finals. :D It was quite interesting that Cuban shut his mouth during the entire 2011 season.

I truly think if the Warrior just pass it to Curry when he's hot like that he can score 100
he is insane

Agreed. He's gotta be the greatest shooter of all time if there was such a thing.

So the Thunder are 0-4, and Westbrook was a disaster tonight. They can't fall too far back, not in this West.
