If this holds consider my mind blown

This has been a bad couple weeks for female characters damn.

Im really not sure what to think anymore, one things for certain this debate has taken over the ''is Red Liz's father'' theory.

Also during the Sony email leaks apparently one of the emails leaked suggested that the studio wanted to kill off Megan Boone character and replace her, would post the email here but Im sure its not allowed

Yeah we can't post that here but that's very interesting and sad to hear. Was it because of the character or Megan? Red is obviously the heart of the show but his dynamic with Liz is what makes this show click so much.

I still think it's a play but now that you mentioned that tidbit, I'm not so sure anymore. :( I just can't believe they would do that... The mystery of who Red is to her is not even resolved. :argh:

people are saying she isn't dead and that Mr Kaplan helped her so she could get away from Solomon and Red,but if she isn't then that just cheapen the last few moments of the episode

I'm on this camp. I'm not buying that
she's dead.

Yeah I'm not buying it either unless the actress is leaving. Either her doctor friend Nik is helping her out or Mr. Kaplan is or both.

Person who posted the leaked email mentioned that Spader wasn't to thrilled with Boone's acting skills and she often struggled with her lines and they kept on doing reshoots, as for the email I think it had to do with Boone and its says how they want to kill her off and ''replace her with another character and everyone at the studio was behind the decision''.

The Blacklist's James Spader on that shocking twist — exclusive

It is a fakeout but, it is one of the best fakeouts that I have ever seen on TV.

Damn.

Fairly old article dated Jan 7
Blacklist Boss Talks Potential Death of*****, Megan Boone's Pregnancy

“There are very few rules that we are afraid of breaking,” Bokenkamp tells TVLine, when asked if Liz is really in the mortal danger she’s been fearing. “Alan Alda is somebody who we loved having on the show, and it broke my heart that we blew him up in the box, but it felt like that’s where the story had to go. We’re certainly not afraid of taking some really big swings.”

Who is the NBC promo guy? So hyperbolic and over dramatic lol

I just watched the ep and kept thinking "Any minute now the heart monitor will come back to life....." Then "Ok, when everyone goes Liz will open her eyes....."

WTF? :(

It's gotta be a swerve, a very well done swerve, but a swerve none the less, I don't see why they'd mess with a winning formula for their biggest hit show.

My issue with it been a swerve is that they committed too much into making us believe she is dead, between the realistic defibrillator (which I'm guessing would be extremely dangerous to use on someone who wouldn't really need it), and how super grey and pale she was when Dembe opened the door, there's a lot of evidence to say shes dead ([BLACKOUT]including images of a funeral service which Im guessing happens next week[/BLACKOUT]). If they wanted to bring her back they really should have made it no so convincing.

At this point Liz needs to be dead otherwise Red is going to look silly hanging around her ''dead'' body mourning and not suspecting anything

I also think that this is how they managed to get the spin off show with Tom picked up, I mean if you think about it a show about a single dad trying to raise a new born daughter alone while doing secret spy work is somewhat of an interesting story

I'm conflicted on it too. I thought it was a fake out. A better fake out than The Walking Dead's "we killed Glenn only not really" fake out but if they go through with it, wow. On the one hand there is what those leaked emails allegedly say and on the other there are few other ways to really pull this off without disappointing the audience with a fake death.

I dont see it working either however
what if they introduce a new female character later on perhaps towards the end of season 4/5 who is very familiar with Red and the task force (kinda like how Red was with Liz in season 1) and there is a big mystery surrounding her and this goes on for a season or so and later on it turns out its actually Liz whose had facial reconstructive surgery (perhaps with the help from Mr Kaplan)

I thought about that but it would still feel like a cheat.

Yeah I don't really get how its gonna work either. But I am interested to find out.

Me, too. Been thinking about dropping this show for a while now, bored with all the Liz and Tom drama. Now I'm back to being interested in where this is going to go next.

Wow, they really keep doing this with female leads don't they?
Liz, Abbie from Sleepy Hallow, and Beckett from Castle. They really do have a double standard it seems.

I don't see it working either, especially if they try and "swap out."

The jury is still out on the first example, the second was reportedly by choice, the third was apparently a budgetary matter, although it was admittedly a VERY STUPID IDEA!

I see this as a blow up over nothing. No one blinks twice when this happens with male leads but female leads need to be treated differently? They can't be removed from a show and need protection? There is no conspiracy or plot to kill off the female leads in some kind of diabolical plan.

Though the timing is bad it is nothing that hasn't been going on for decades. It's only right now because it's a hot topic to complain (usually rightly so) about how bad movies and television have been neglecting prominent female roles.

But it really is nothing new. People are only noticing it because they are being too critical and looking for something to complain about. Not every case of a female lead being removed from a show is some kind of mysoginistic agenda.

Exactly how I feel. I'm gonna keep watching for now and see how it goes.
