NBC's ''The Blacklist''

It was so obvious that Mrs. Jarvis was fake from the beginning. :funny: It was still a nice ep though.

I wonder if that's exactly how he met Liz' mom or only the suicide part was inspired by it?

That was some Home Alone, the gritty reboot edition stuff going on. :funny: I still am not sure how far they are going to go with Liz's fate.

It seems definite they have killed her but this episode put just enough spin on Red's mental state to make me wonder.

Given he dreamed/relived an entire home invasion scenario complete with all the trimmings of homemade boobytraps after rescuing Liz's mother (or so we're led to believe) and that this seems like it's a reaction to that trauma of losing Liz.

Whether that is what truly happened or what he believed happened... though the beginning with the doctor is more telling in she really is dead, I still can't quite shake that it's the whole truth.

We should give the writers more credit for handling the fallout of last week's episode than we did. There is still a feeling of missing Liz this episode but Spader carried this nicely and with Hisham Tawfiq (Dembe) at his side in the future I think the show might be able to carry on without her.

The preview from last week overhyped the performance for this episode. I liked the episode but didn't see anything different from Spader. Just Spader being Spader.

And Spader is good. He's really an under noticed actor IMO.

Firstly Ive enjoyed watching Megan Boon and over the duration of the show I thought her acting had improved considerably however I thought it was so refreshing to finally have an actor/actress (Lotte Verbeek) who can hold their own (acting wise) against James Spader.

I really felt like they had worked together many times before, yet despite only having done 1 episode together, my biggest issue (much like the previous episode) is that there was so much emotion invested in this episode that if it turns out Liz's is actually alive then this episode (and Spaders performance) will feel like a waste of time and everyone who has been emotionally invested during these last few episodes will feel cheated.

I see this as a blow up over nothing. No one blinks twice when this happens with male leads but female leads need to be treated differently? They can't be removed from a show and need protection? There is no conspiracy or plot to kill off the female leads in some kind of diabolical plan.

Though the timing is bad it is nothing that hasn't been going on for decades. It's only right now because it's a hot topic to complain (usually rightly so) about how bad movies and television have been neglecting prominent female roles.

But it really is nothing new. People are only noticing it because they are being too critical and looking for something to complain about. Not every case of a female lead being removed from a show is some kind of mysoginistic agenda.

Oh spare me this bullcrap. It's happened three time in the last few weeks, with three of the most prominent female leads on TV, and it's the female character everytime. And in each case, it's not been handled particularly well. So yeah, people notice that. And yes, female characters tend to get treated worse than male ones historically, and that plays into it.

So enough with the whole "people just have an agenda, want to complain" crap, because it ain't true, simple as that.

I don't care. The Red/Liz dynamic is one of the major reason I watch. The show just isn't nearly as good without it.

So you are saying there is a conspiracy to undermind the female leads? What kind of logic is that? They kill off male leads all the time too and do it poorly in some cases yet we've not seen anywhere near the blow up.

Keep believing there is some deeper agenda to it though. :woot:

Does anyone else confused on how Tom's character is being written? He goes from cold-blooded killer to love-stricken emo from episode to episode it seems.

I had wondered a lot about Tom/Jacob.
Was he playing a game?
Did he really love Liz?
Now, i am convinced, he loved Liz.

From what I recall Tom was never supposed to last past the first season, but over time he became popular that the show runners runners decided to keep him around, which probably explains his sudden change in personality.

It's Brian Dennehy! Always awesome seeing that guy. Kept waiting for him drop a solid hint to Red's relation to Liz. 😠

I don't think myserty woman is Liz's mother. Could be an Aunt. Why does she have weight in the U.S. government? No clue.

They were careful to give Liz a closed casket funeral. Meaning, she's still alive.

So, I guess she's really dead then. I was holding out hope they were just accomdating her while she is on paternal leave but this seems final.

Unless Boone wanted out of the show permanently I'm not convinced Liz is dead.

My guess her fate is in limbo for now, and the show runners are testing the waters. I have to admit Ive really enjoyed the last 2 episodes especially the most recent one, it gave focus to every co star and allowed them to breath so to speak.(especially Aram who I thought was brilliant)

I'm still not sure if Liz is really dead.

I think megan boone might just be taking some time out because she had a baby in real life and they needed a way to write her out of the show temporarily.

There are other ways they could have done it than with a seemingly dead and done twist like this. If she is still alive then it is going to stretch credibility a bit how she fooled Red and the doctor and everyone else. Red especially seems to believe she is dead and the doctor did not look like he was faking it for the camera when he was interrogated.

That's one of my biggest issues with it being fake, if it were then Nick is not only a Dr but also a brilliant actor.

This is a twist loving show. If they are planning on writing her out then I'm sure they have a plan to explain her faking her death.

No way Liz pulled this off by herself. So if not her doctor than Mr. Kaplan has to be in on it. Everyone else seems genuine in their grief.

When I first saw Red looking at this drawing, I thought it was a drawing that a young Katrina drew of her and her parents, but looking at it I'm thinking its a drawing of herself,Dom and possibly her sister Susan ''Scotty'' Hargrave'' (Famke's character)

Aram has been the standout for me over the last 2 eps.

So much for the aunt theory. Didn't find the character or her organization that interesting.

I guess Alexander Kirk, who ordered the kidnapping could be her father/uncle.

And still no Liz in sight. If she doesn't appear in the final 2 episodes. I might actually start buying into her death.

I haven't seen any spoilers about the team taking another hit. But I think if Aram goes through with Tom's advise that we might see Aram or Samar get killed off.

The Blacklist spinoff planned Starring Famke Janssen

Janssen will be introduced in the May 5 episode before the planted spinoff. She will play Susan “Scottie” Halsted. It will be the female lead if NBC proceeds with the series, a decision that likely will be made in the next month and a half.

No details are being provided on Janssen’s character or the storyline for the spinoff, but I hear that Scottie Halsted was conceived to be to Tom (Ryan Eggold) what Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) is to Liz (Megan Boone). Actresses in their 60s and 50s were considered for the role. Making Episode 322 a planted spinoff was contingent on finding a star name to play Scottie, with the contingency lifted by the casting of Janssen.

Hmm so Toms mom?

[BLACKOUT]hah, I didn't think it would be that obvious, anyway I kinda enjoyed that ''backdoor'' pilot episode[/BLACKOUT]

They definitely showcased Tom's skills this episode and with him taking on new identities and having had previous identities, the possibilities are endless. They just need to find ways to keep it fresh and not redundant. I wonder if Solomon and the other girl will move to the spin off too? I kinda like the dynamic they have with Tom and I see them all being a dysfunctional unit (especially with Tom shooting Solomon). I'm guessing Scottie's underground private base will be their HQ too.
