NBC's Witchblade

Sounds like they want a replacement for Grimm.

I enjoyed the original, for the most part, so I am curious to see how this goes.

huh, didn't think this would get another reboot

My body is ready!

The original series was great. Shame it had to get cancelled due to bts factors.

Hope this is good and does well.

will Jackie Estacado from The Darkness comic and games be in this show He has a personal history with Sara and a child if I remember correctly

Now will they give her the real costume?

There's about as much chance of that as me winning the lotto tomorrow.:sly:

Depends on which costume you consider to be real

The top and bottom ones are more likely. Most modern live-action superhero adaptations across the board have tended to downplay the cheesecake and fanservice aspect (a few exceptions notwithstanding).

I would be willing to bet cash you aren't gonna see Sara Pezzini shaking her booty in a metal thong and bikini top.

I'm kind of excited for this but how many times has the film been discussed and nothing came out of it? I don't want to get my hopes up.

This project already has a Pilot script written and a network committed to air it, so it's not so much "in development" as it is "ready to be commenced on".

They don't ever have to pick up pilots just because they make them up.

Exhibit A:

P.S. it has two women "working on a script." It's not finished yet.

Also who would be your cast for the series?

I'm going with either Missy Peregrym or Vanessa Ferlito as Sara Pezzini. They both are TV actresses that fit the role really well imo.

Also since TVD writer is involved I could see them try to do someone like Nina Dobrev though I doubt she would do TV again any time soon.

Did the movie even get that far along though? All I remember is a model posing for a teaser poster. I don't know if they ever got any writers or producers involved.

Yes the film had several writers and directors (Michael Rymer was for years) attached until it for one reason or another fell through. Even if it didn't you can still not pick up a pilot even if it is produced.

According to both ComicBook.Com and TVLine.Com, the Pilot script has already been written by this Dries lady and a guy named Brian Young.

Accoring to THR, EW and even SHH....

"EW can confirm The Vampire Diaries showrunner Caroline Dries and CSI vet Carol Mendelsohn are working on a script for Witchblade at the network."

The script is still in development and no one named Brian Young is involved...

But who cares about that trivial piece of the puzzle? My main point is that I'm not trying to get my hopes up.

Give her the skimpy costume this time round.

Missy Peregrym might not have been bad if she hadn't been in Rookie Blue already. Now it feels like it would be a bit of a retread.

too bad this can't be a Netflix original series... more creative freedom than NBC, I'm sure...

I liked the original series, right up until they rebooted the entire thing back to ep 1. Haven't seen it in a long while though, I have the feeling it was especially broody, which I would not go for right now.
I'd be interested in checking a new version of it though.

I've never seen the original show, but what exactly happened behind the scenes that caused trouble? Something with the actress, right?

Give her the skimpy costume this time round.

Unless they are deliberately going a more comedic route (which admittedly could be funny) there's just no chance of that happening. I have no idea about the standards and practices aspect of things but I just can't see someone trying to pitch a serious superhero show where the heroine prances around in metal butt floss.

The actress was an alcoholic and she relapsed i believe so TNT cancelled the show.
