Anyone ever had a "lucky to be alive" moment or something close to it? Not very uplifting, but I was kinda curious...

I had one a couple months ago, got into a car accident and hit the ditch going about 45 mph. Got out of it without a scratch *phew*.

I nearly drowned once, that was pretty scary.

i also almost drowned at my aunts swimming pool, that was very scary.

i also almost fell from a the top of like a 15 foot slide when i was about 4. another four year old grabbed me. that was pretty cool.

once i was laying in the sun when suddenly the wind lifted a nearby canvas which was held on the ground with rocks. As a result 2 of the rocks (5-10 pounds each) were catapulted and came raining down on me. one of them landed right beside my head, the other one hit the perfect spot between my angled knees and missed my balls for 2 inches. Although not realy near-death I felt so lucky the rest of that day:woot:

Feb '07 had an IED go off two vehicles after mine (about 15 seconds)...killed a contract driver and wounded two troops. :csad:

well, lets see, the first one that comes to mind

would be, this one time, when I was a kid, lived near a woodsy area, and was into climbing tree

anyway, so, I am climbing this tree, and I am at like the very top, I slipped and fell, I landed across two branches near the bottom, that caught me, right above a big jagged rock

other times, were just bad car accidents, or almost being hit...

though, (i don't know if I'd call it near death, but) this othee time, more recently, my car caught on fire, I got out just before the tank blew
ya, that kinda sucked

(the car that blew up was an old junker, that i was just driving until I got my new fixed, so, no big lose there, but, unfortunately, the car i was get fixed, was parked right next to it, and got blown as well to bad)

i nearly drowned, was electrocuted, and while my school bus was at a traffic light we were hit but a speeding truck that came through the window i was sitting at

When I was in fourth grade, I'd carpool with the neighbour girl - it was exceptionally stormy this one morning, and the car spun out of control and hit a tree.

Everyone was fine, though. No brain damagamagage to speak of.

I've had two of them.

One, when I was 17, my friend and I were going to pick up some other friends and then we were off to see The Crow. My friend was driving and we missed a stop sign. He hit a car in the rear driver's side door, causing it to flip on it's roof and killing the woman in the backseat. Our car was spun 180 degrees and the right rear hit a car stopped across the intersection from us. I still am not sure if my wondow was down or if I knocked it out with my head. All I remember was saying, "Hey Jeff, stop sign." and then Jeff saying, "Hey Mike, wake up, dude. Get out of the car." Had we gotten to the intersection a few seconds sooner, the other car would have hit my door, killing me.

The other, I was when I was in the National Guard. We were training in northern England with their Territorial Army. They had us camping in just sleeping bags on the side of a hill in September in the rain. I kept telling myself to just go to sleep, but something kept telling me that if I did, I wasn't waking up.

I got hit by a car when I was about 11, luckily it slowed down enough that it didn't do any serious damage, but I still think it counts.

When I was young I got bit by a chipmunk and had to get rabies shots.

I almost fell off a cliff whilst skiiing.

Crane lost control of its load, I had to quickly evacuate the building I was in.

Standing on a platform while a load of bricks showered down upon me from 10 floors up.

Losing control of my Jeep, plowing into trees, waking up with the vehicle on its side down an embankment.

I almost froze to death in a cave in January...
We were in the cave for 13 hours, and I was the last person to do a climb, because we had to let this one inexperienced girl go first. She took an hour to do something that took me five seconds, and I could hardly move at that point.
I was the only person below, with wet clothes and no body heat....yeah wasn't fun.

There's a hill in the winter time that's reeeeally big in my city, so I went down the one side of the hill that you're not supposed to go down, (where there's a forest). I went down and my sled thing went out of control, I jumped off to the side as I headed towards a metal pole. My leg flew into it though and it cracked a little bit, it hurt really bad and I couldn't go to school for a week.

I choked on a small Hot Sauce wrapper that fell in my Chinese food rice. Friend had to perform Heimlich maneuver...:(

Thank you God.

One day after work I set myself a plate (Tuesday nights were seafood and prime rib buffet) and I was eating prime rib with a couple co-workers as we were closing the restaurant down. They went outside to take a smoke and I was in the back office by myself eating. So I choked on a piece of prime rib. It was stuck in my throat and could not cough it out. I ran outside trying to find them and they weren't out there. I was losing my breath and started to get super dizzy. I started to lose my sight. I seriously thought I was going to die. Luckily, since I was trained in first aid, I went behind a chair and did a stomach thrust. It flew out and I had to sit there and recover for awhile. I saved my own life

My appendix ruptured when I was 7. It took a while before my family realized what happened. If they had waited even an hour later to take me to the hospital then when they did.. I wouldn't be here.

My heart went 300 beats per minute. I had to be shocked while awake. Then my valve had to be removed and replaced with a new one.

Two weeks ago my FOB was under attack by way of Mortars/Rockets and while me and another NCO attempted to get everyone in our section to bunkers for safety, we also began clearing our office of weapons left behind by frightened troops. Just as we exited a mortar crashed right through our roof and into our office send shrapnel everywhere. Large pieces of life ending shrapnel. Me and my battle were lucky to leave at the time we did. =/ Afghanistan sucks.

I fell off a cliff once. That was kind of a rush...

I nearly drowned in the Guadalupe River a couple of years ago. Scary experience.
