Need For Speed

I found it really enjoyable more than i thought. The film was solid, better than some of the F&F films (7.5/10)

To me, F&F finally hit their stride with part 5 and 6, which embraced its over-the-topness.

Finishing #3 in its OW is not a good sign for a movie that wants to become a franchise like F&F.

:o blame Peabody and 300:2.

So, it was revised down from Saturday. No $6.9, it did $6.7 and dropped 33% to $4.4M Sunday.

$45.6M overseas though, but no sequel it seems. :cmad: DAMMIT TO HELL. Even with final numbers Monday Domestic and Overseas, looks like it will do a bit over $60M WW opening, so maybe it will break even on dvd/blu at one point.

WTF, etm. Are you Aaron Paul? Or Kid Cudi? Tell us, but mainly me.

Catwoman - Opening Weekend: $16,728,411
Need For Speed - Opening Weekend: $17,808,000

This is down there with Catwoman by a thousand. After Earth & John Carter made more with their opening weekends

Sounds like a bomb 2 me

However, Need for Speed will make more money world wide than Catwoman. Catwoman only did $82M WW. NFS is already at 63M WW first weekend out. Catwoman on $100M Budget, NFS on $66M budget.

That does not say much. You can enjoy the Blu-Ray when it comes out

You can't be serious. What kind of a comparison is that. It cost 66 million and made 45 million this weekend. It's not even close to a bomb. Though definitely not a success. Pathetic and embarassing to even try those comparisons

Saw it last night. Thought it was ok, but there wasn't much to it overall. It had a lot of tone inconsistencies as well. Best thing it had going for it was Aaron Paul.

It was also the most fun I ever had with the Breaking Bad soundboard app. :hehe:

You might want to close your eyes for this *app* *****.

Racing, *****.

I saw it today and I have to say it is one of the better movies based on a game series. the stunt work while crazy at times looked very good, Keaton is good in his role (love this guy he he). and being that I own a current gen Mustang (05-14) I loved the silver one in the movie. Oh and Imogen Poots :hrt: nuff said.

Just got back from this. I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure why it such negative reviews.

I was surprised that the film didn't really start after what felt like a prologue that was over 30 minutes with two entertaining races.

I really liked how they filmed the races in terms of where the cameras were placed at times.

If I read it, I must've forgotten it because I had no idea Keaton was in this. So, it was a surprise to see him.

$21M of the $45.6M overseas gross came in China.

Domestic is not good, but overseas will make Disney happy, maybe not enough to warrant a sequel though. Or save Dreamworks from going under.

Yeah that's good and bad. Good because at least the movie is making money somewhere but bad because china has some of the strictest tarrifs and taxes for foreign films.

The studio is only going to see percentage of that china groos. I'm sure the studio would have preffered a flip between domestic and chinese opening.

Well, Fast 6 opened to about $24M and did around $66M in China....NFS should do $50M+ there in it's run.

There's still Germany this week where it opens, and in weeks/months to come...Spain, France, South Korea, and Japan.

$200M world wide theaters is in play, but $150M+ may be more accurate.

I'd expect around $20M to $25M overseas next week. Who knows. But it opened small in lots of places.

I really find it mindboggling that the opening weekend of NFS in China was more than in the US. Really mind boggling. Has it ever happened before?

And what's more, is this a new trend?

No idea. I only know that Die Hard 5 (A Good Day to Die Hard) did like $16M in China opening.

Its not really that surprising. It all comes down to the movie. And I'm sure it has happened many times. Off the top of my head for Pacific Rim China out-opened and out-grossed US.

Keaton was good in this ,his revival has been a highlight so far in 2014. I wasn't even much of a fan in his bettlejuice/batman days.

Glad you enjoyed the movie though. The POV scenes and the roar of those engines were great and IMO was one of the films highlights big thumbs up. I liked the chemistry between Aaron and Imogen. The racing action was filmed well and stunts were on point. It was a really solid film. One person that was OTT was that fool kid cudi. Yea he had some descent scenes but damn the **** couldn't shut his bloody mouth. Shame its not doing well in sales figures but that's life.

I could tell he was having fun with the role.

I kinda feel that Imogen was the MVP of the film. I didn't have any problems with Kid Cudi actually.

I think at best, the film will get a DTV sequel.
