Netflix Adapting 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'

Funny, I re-read the last book not to long ago and Olaf can indeed be silly and just not in a dark way, his conversation with Sunny was stupidly hilarious and when he is in costume he has a tendency to be very obvious and over the top.

I don't know about this. It says in talks he hasn't been casted yet but Eh even if he gets it I would give the show a chance just to see his performance because I have been a NPH fan.

Over in the American Horror Story thread someone had the genius idea of Denis O'Hare as Olaf.

I was hoping there was a thread for this show. I'm excited for it, but I'm not sure how I feel about NPH as Olaf though. He's a good actor, but can he pull off Olaf?

I just don't want the actor's personality taking over. I want him to just be Count Olaf. Harris is the type of actor though where if he's not directed right part of his inherent sense of humor can come through. Fincher did it right with Gone Girl, I just hope Sonnenfeld can do it too. I'm not saying he shouldn't do his own thing, but always within who Olaf is.

I guess this is an Olaf type look where with the right make-up he could do it.

I hope that picture isn't real. If it is.... Sonny doesn't look very baby like.

No idea who these kids are but hope they're talented. And I hope Klaus actually tries to look like Klaus.

Just from what I've seen of Neil Patrick Harris, and it's not much, only a couple of things, I think he's talented enough to play Olaf well.

The young actress cast as Violet looks like Emily Browning interestingly enough.

Never heard of either of them. I was hoping Pierce Gagnon would get the role of Klaus. I was looking forward to this, but now I'm kind of skeptical.

Well I do know that they seemingly looked at lots of kids as I saw a casting notice on backstage and I can't imagine they didn't get lots of submissions through the site and directly through agents. A couple of questions I have are:

*How many books will be covered a season/how many seasons
*How soon before the kids are too old to believably play these young characters (as only two years have passsed by the last book).

Watching Coraline the other day I really wished that this series was done in stop motion animation like they were thinking about doing after it was clear that the movie wouldn't be getting any sequels.

My guess is 2-3 seasons. They could do most books in 2 episodes. Cover books 1-5 or 6 in season 1.

Honestly, Season 1 alone could cover books 1-3, maybe even 4. I'm excited for this casting, and NPH is the icing on the cake.

Honestly, 13 books, 13 episodes. Even the longer books can fit into the hour format. Or maybe make the episodes longer. I wouldn't be opposed to making these two episodes per book but if you go back to read those first seven, they're so damn fast.

Patrick Warburton to Star as Lemony Snicket in Netflix Drama
Warburton will take on the role of Lemony Snicket, the harried and troubled writer-photographer who is falsely accused of felonies and is continuously hunted by police and his enemies — including the fire-starting side of secret organization Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). Jude Law voiced the role of Lemony Snicket in the 2004 feature film.
Was not expecting that.

Should have brought back Jude Law. Warburton's voice and general demeanor makes him sound like a dunce which isnt how they should want us picturing Snicket.

That Article is confused Uncle Marty wasn't the one Terrorizing the Baudelier's the guy needs to do his research before writing an article like that.

I would like to see at least 2 episodes per book personally. 2-3 seasons would be ideal.

Assuming its all quality that is. Casting children is like betting the double zero.

How, NPH looks fantastic. That is so great makeup work.

I thought NPH looked like a bit of a copy and paste of Carrey's Olaf at first, but the look of Olaf is something that movie nailed, so I'm not complaining.

He looks perfect. Also, LOL at the Jurassic World operator being the one who looks like neither man nor woman
