Netflix Changing Pricing Structure

HBO Go is not associated with Netflix, but yes, you need to be an HBO subscriber to access it. Starz looks to be doing the same thing. Showtime has something similar as well called Showtime Anytime.

HBO Go is basically their version of Netflix for their programs.

I have a feeling streaming services like Netflix, might be on the way out. Or, maybe not out, at least anytime soon, but are going to continue to be hurt. In the beginning, customers wanted streaming, but all the networks were too scared and ignorant to do it. So Netflix came along and said "Don't worry, you let us license your stuff, and we'll take care of all the nasty, messy internet stuff."

Well, now, networks are finally becoming more internet sophisticated. And Netflix has proven there's money to be made. So the networks are cutting out the middle man.

It won't happen immediately. Only the big cable companies who are used to going it alone and being ahead of the curve are pulling out. But that's already a noticeable hit in Netflix's offerings. Luckily for us, the big networks are digging their heels in the sand at providing streaming, still using advertising dollars from tv ratings as their source of income. So they're still probably quite happy pulling in Netflix's license fees rather than do it themselves.

Can I instantly watch movies streamed from Netflix over the Internet to my PC or Mac?
Yes. Simply press Play on any TV episode or movie to instantly watch it online on your Internet-connected PC or Mac.

it's all on the website

I stream Netflix on my mac all the time. After installing Silverlight (which works on windows and OSX), I've never had an issue.

I think that if you subscribe to the channel. Then you should get access to these sites & not through providers :o

Thanks guys wanted to know if silverlight was needed or not for mac thanks for the answer.

But you don't subscribe to HBO directly to HBO, you do it through your cable provider. It's really the only way to verify whether you're paying for HBO or not.

Honestly, there isn't enough on cable that isn't available on Netflix to warrent me shelling out extra money at this time.

Chinese Ghost Story trilogy is out on Netflix but they have the order all messed up. The one they have listed as part 1 is I believe part 3. Part II is part 1. and Part 3 is part 2.

they did that with a couple of episodes of Mission Impossible I was watching. Part I wasn't making any sense...because it was really Part II.

But you can report they're out of order.

Right now I'm contemplating resubscribing Netflix, so I can get a few DVDs that I want to watch (I still like their DVD library over their streaming library). However, before I reactivate my account, I discovered that they put the streaming service on my account, with an option to add the DVD mailing service with extra fee. I just want the DVD, not the streaming, so I hesitate to resubscribe until I find out more. Can I change the option once I activate my old account?

Nope. You get streaming and DVD's as a package.

In essence, streaming is now the default and DVD's is the add on, not the other way around.

Really? That sux. :cmad: I remember that before I unsubscribe from my Netflix account, I was able to choose either one or combine them, but their new policy of forcing you to choose streaming is ludicrous. Now I'm not sure if I want to activate my old account. No wonder customers are still angry at Netflix for making this mess in the first place.

Yeah you're right, I just checked. There are DVD only plans.

I'm happy that Netflix has the U.S. version of Being Human now. I'll do a marathon before season 2 starts up.

So that means that if I sign up with Netflix again, I can choose DVD only plan and get rid of the streaming only service?

it's right there on the account page. Including their 4.99 plan (not in pic)

Thanks. It's just that they don't let me see this plan list on the page that I'm offered to resubscribe my old account, only the mandatory streaming service with DVD as option.

Alright Im thinking about switching from 1 DVD out at a time to just streaming. I wish I could keep DVD but Im trying to save a lil money a month.

Is there a better streaming subscription service on the internet that has a better selection than Netflix's internet subscription?

Not at the moment. Amazon is getting there slowly, but surely.

I hate the way they change the selection layout on their website. I just go to instantwatcher.com and look at what Netflix has for streaming. I hear they are trying to get bigger titles on Netflix for streaming.

Well that would be the only way to get more people to choose that service. As it is we often times have to wait an additional month from an initial release just to get a DVD in the mail.
