Umbrella Academy Netflix Orders 'Umbrella Academy' Adaptation

Really enjoying this so far. 5 is awesome.

Yup, Aidan Gallagher was pretty impressive as number 5. He has a huge future in showbiz.
Yeah, I've totally enjoyed him so far. The one character I couldn't do without on this show.

I read that, and I think it misses exactly how they were raised and why they all wanted to get away from each other and the fact that they did get away from each other. They knew each other as kids, not so much as adults. They make this clear very early on. It also misses that you can't bog down in exposition for days. They gave us what we needed to know, when we needed to know it. And the how was far more effective for it imo. If they move that Vanya scene they mention to earlier in the season, you need to basically call back to it again later, as it is tied specifically to the end of the season.

I also think it is telling that a lot of Moore's complaints about the show are tied to his attachment to the source material, especially as his review of season 1 is one big comparison. But hey, he likes the Gifted, so I didn't really expect much from the worst Io9 writer. :hehe:

Oh and one more then on Moore, because this one really got to me. He wrote an entire article about Sabrina, complaining on the use of hanging on a show about witches, and how it has an issue with race. It became clear after reading the article, that he did not actually watch the show.

Two episodes in and really digging it! Love all the main characters. Also, if Matt Reeves is looking to include Robin in his series of Batman films, he should definitely consider Aiden Gallagher (The Boy). That kid is rad.
Oh yeah, he'd be perfect!

Hope you guys aren't thinking he'll play a child Robin. By the time the next Bat movie gets made he'll be an adult lol.

He’ll be like adult Five in the future, still waiting for the call. :D:

I have one more episode to watch (I dont mind coming here...I'm pretty sure they win in the end).

I'm really enjoying it. My Chemical Romance played a bit of a role in starting me off in my career...and they are all really nice guys...so I'm stoked that Gerard is having so much post-band success.

I think my only real issue with the show is how each member found out about the coming apocalypse...and then off and on just kind of lost interest in stopping it.

But I really liked the pacing that allowed us to get to know and care about the characters and while it certainly owes a lot to certain classic comics, the journey was fun enough to keep me interested.

Yeah, they take the time so you're invested and there's a
significant difference at the end, in the comics Vanya is shot in the head, but sure. In the show Alison shoots next to Santa's ear to break her concentration. I think they put this in to really drive home that as a family they love each other - Luther clearly loved Vanya but still put her in the soundproof room.

I am slightly bewildered by Luther's strength vs Hazel's - although Diego really struggles with Hazel as well, the guy's a brute.

Hope there's a season 2.

Since I'm going OTT with posts on this thread....why doesn't UA have a thread alongside the other comic book shows ?

True there's only one season but surely it's as worthy as Arrow or Titans !

If it's supposed to be an ongoing show and has a season 2 announced then it definitely should have.

I've finished the show now and am really looking forward to more. They've really developed the characters well and I would love to see them work together properly and solve their issues. I have recently been watching tonnes of new shows one after another but in this case I think I will make the time to rewatch this.

I missed a lot the first time I watched episode 10, so rewatching was definitely worthwhile.

I assumed that was meant to be a running gag or some type of side joke of the series that Hazel and Cha Cha, were said to be some of the best assassin's in the world despite neither of them looking all that physically imposing, they clearing had the skills and training to earn this title, the fact that he was able to hold his own against Luther is testament to that

I just started rewatching from episode 1 with a friend and am picking up on many things that seemed meaningless or that I missed first time around. This is my kind of show, really well made and layered.
