Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

Not expecting to get anything anytime soon. Main reason is that spy photos are unlikely, since it's being filmed in outskirts of civilization. Means they don't need to rush out any promo materials.

It'd be nice if they did like a test photo reveal like what they did with Tom Hardy as Bane, Tobey as Spider-Man or the like, but I'm not holding my breath. Netflix won't release anything until they want it to.

I think there's good possibility we will get something. Some tease. Cavill's silhouette or whatever. Just no character posters or photos. Probably not yet.

I hope you are wrong.

So looks like this is our official Sapkowski's version of the character.

As OutofBoose pointed out, they are probably filming this in the middle of nowhere, so spy pics will be harder to come by. Plus, I imagine Netflix runs a pretty tight ship with their sets.

Also, are we really even sure principal production has started?

It started today.

Huh? I think she smiled in the books. And even in the game.
Every person (including fictional) who's ever lived has smiled (the only living exception according to some strange individuals, is Cap Marvel :yay:).

But like an angry Mother Theresa pic, it wouldn't be trademark/characteristic. Also explaining this kind of ruins it. :csad:

The sooner they will stop trying to turn Anya into the game Yennefer, the better.

They're different and should be approached differently. Anya has her own visual strengths.

We shall see. Obviously, the producers saw something in her. I don't see it yet, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

But yeah, they aren't making an adaptation of the games.

But let's also be honest, without these games, there isn't a Netflix TV series.

Even putting aside the question of what made Witcher franchise popular around the world, for vast majority of people the game is the only visual representation of the world. So all associations are based on what CDPR built. Maybe it's a good thing there's an alternative view on it and it will broaden perception of the franchise in a good way. For now I'm waiting for Thronebreaker. I like Gwent and I love what CDPR write for the world. So, I'm excited.

Yeah, that doesn't look quite right.
