Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

Believe Me or not but i follow Daniel Richtman on Patreon and he said that The Witcher Season 1 has a Budget from 80 Million so if that's true we can expect Game of Thrones Quality
Absolutely awesome if true.

More Anya Chalotra.

Looks interesting, and I like the voice she gives that character. So this show is on YouTube originals and you have to subscribe to YouTube Premium. Does anyone pay for that right now? Does it have a lot of good content?

Also here are some pics speculated to be Anya in costume:

There's also description of a scene they filmed. Geralt is fighting some woman in black and it seems like he used "force push" Aard and knocked her off her feet.

Maybe it's Renfri, since the actress arrived recently to the set.

I doubt it's Renfri. Yennfer wasn't anywhere around that story.

Maybe it's not Renfri in the alleged fight. But Renfri actress is on the location.

Besides, I doubt they're just sticking to the books. The stories will be expanded and altered. I won't be surprised by parallel narrative akin to GoT.

Turns out it wasn't Geralt. And the woman in black is Yennefer. Probably some kind of mage battle.

Also, costumes continue to disappoint.

wow those costumes die look awful

"Netflix's answer for Game of Thrones."

Well that's something at least. Now I'mc urious who took this photo. Could the girl on the ground be Ciri?

costumes never look good in these types of unofficial set pictures. and i mean never.

not saying that the costumes are fine, just that we can't really judge from pictures like this.

what the F### is wrong on a normal Black Dress and its a pic during filming with no filters vfx and such things and you guys already have a problem with that

VFX and filters, unless it's a CGI body/double, don't make costumes look better. Camera work does. Context can explain costume choice. I'm not ruling out it's not the whole picture, but Cavill demo + other work of Tim Aslam don't inspire confidence.

Honestly, lots of got costumes looked bland to me when photographed by paps from afar. Im still waiting for the proper first look. Amd this doesnt look that bad to me anyways.

They don't look as bad as the costume test for Cavill as Geralt and that crappy looking shirt/gambeson he was wearing.

If they play their cards right, they can far surpass Game of Thrones. The potential is there. It's a tighter story.

I dunno about that. I will be happy with a decent show that is popular enough that more fantasy tv shows/films get made.

I stand by it. It's all in the execution. If it's a Jessica Jones S2 or Iron Fist S1 level execution, then no.

Also, let's also not ignore that Game of Thrones is not this flawless pinnacle.

I certainly wouldn't call iron fist season 1 decent and jj season 2 i found boring. But think if you are setting your expectatiins for this to far surpass gotg you may be disappointed.
